I did. At Loxton. Fairly gusty morning and the greens were so damn fast. Nice course though. Waikerie/Loxton/Renmark/Berri in that order for Riverland Golf Courses.

The way he hit them saturday, there's a strong possiblilty he'll be quitting his day job and joining the pro circuit.

Didn't think much of Loxton's star recruits, most of the local lads played well. Ryan Nickolls looked dangerous early but Raeder held him well in the second half.

Loxton too good going forward but the Demons had more than their fair share of the footy. Couldn't use it going forward.

Very impressed with Langdon, Hamilton, Knight, Safralidis, Woolston, Milburn, and Geyer did a good job on Kruger.

Michael Kirk, Nick Uren and Bronte Manuel were pretty good for the Tigers.

wow Nick still running around played juniors and colts with him, is Brendan koschel still playing??

What the hell is going on in Riverland football!

Wunkar's Sean 'Gonzo' Gray has been one of the greats of Independent football for over 20 years, last Saturday he was red carded and suspended for two matches. Who did he hit you ask?, nobody! - frustrated by his teams poor showing against Cobdogla he mouthed off at an umpire. His exact words were 'Give up, buy a rod and go fishing on a Saturday' and with a 25 year unblemished record he gets two matches. Beware Independent footballers dont break wind on the field, that will get you 5 matches.

Shame Riverland Football Shame

No shame RFL, you just solved your own problem mate - the umpire that copped the abuse didn't make Wunkar play badly, so next time if he's as experienced as you say, he'll take it out on his own team mate. You do the crime you do the time mate, don't abuse community umpires FFS!!!

200KW is an umpire too. Red Cards are a mandatory 2 game suspension yeah? Ridiculous. Surely could have been argued at a tribunal?

We had a bloke yellow carded in first game for saying to the umpire "There's two teams out here you know?"
For the record, we lost the free kick count 25-9 that day.

The umpiring in Independents, well our games anyway, has been deplorable so far.
Just laziness to get to where the ball is and making decisions by guesswork.
The worst ones are when blokes tackle another guy from behind and it's automatically called 'in the back'. Absolute rubbish.

But, having said that, they are really, really short, with a lot of guys learning the trade, so we've just got to cop it.
We really need some former players to get out there and have a crack, because they at least know the rules which gives them a headstart.
We're going to miss Bob Vogt's umpiring this year I reckon.

Heard from another Independent player on the weekend that the umpiring hasn't been that great.
Between a rock and a hard place when it comes to that sort of thing though - you gotta accept what you've got and help the standard improve.
But giving cards to blokes for "go fishing" and "two teams out there" isn't the way to go about it.
Anyone who's defending that is nuts.

How many games did the Cobby get the other week after being carded?

He may have played for Brown's Well until the early 00s. But I can't really recall him.
Matthew Cockshell, Nick's cousin, was a pretty darn good player for Loxton North until he blew a knee (I think) in the early 00s.

I'm not defending that mate. Just saying that's our lot and we're stuck with it unfortunately.
Umpires are stubborn bastards and you're never going to change the way they go about it.

We had the umpire from our game in the changerooms after the game lecturing blokes on how to go about their football.
I felt like telling him to f*ck off.

Friddy got one week. Should've got a lot more for what he did.
But mind you, one of our blokes got away with one that he shouldn't have too.

Mate, wasn't saying you were defending it. Someone above said "do the time, pay the crime".
Interesting a runner gets one game for his indiscretion, while a bloke with a good record gets two games for "go fishing".
All I can say is, you blokes are lucky Daff's not umpiring up there any more.

Honestly DW, Daff would be a major improvement on what we've got now.
Going for a look at Renmark v Waikerie game on Saturday. Hopefully the standard at that level is still okay.

Saw Waikerie v Loxton North on the weekend. Would figure Waikerie will be gunning to destroy Renmark after the loss on the weekend.

Yeah you'd think so. Get Ben Venning back too.

Quite a few milestones this week:
300 games - Robert Price
150 - Harry Beavis
100 - Murray Middleton

All I can say is - the UMPIRE reports the incident (umpire abuse is a 2 game PP suspension in RFL & MOST leagues)(ABUSE is not defined as swearing) and the LEAGUE hands out the penalties.

RFL are desperately struggling for umpires this season, if you don't like the way the game is umpired, GET OUT THERE AND DO IT YOURSELVES? Its seriously what more blokes need to do after playing, give back to the league as a whole.

Agreed. I'm considering giving it a crack later in life.
I've given enough abuse to them over the years, I'm probably entitled to cop it back.
