haha somehow I don't think so. I think it will be a great game this weekend that could go eitherway! Raiders may just pull off an upset with the home ground advantage. Raiders by 5 points

Raiders beating Lofty is as farcical as people tipping IB to beat them last week. Time will tell i guess, can't wait for the BLOCKBUSTER Bridgy v IB, now that will be one to watch out for, can't wait and will be there with bells on.[/quote]

cant imagine IB beating the raiders when birdwood accounted for them very easily? Raiders v goats will be a good game this week.

Justquietly wrote:On another note, what's with the HFL website? No results from this year at all. Would love to see how other grades other than A Grade's panning out. So whilst investingating where a possible resource could be, I looked up Hills Football League in Wikipedia. Interesting run down with this little nugget:
It is one of the biggest leagues in South Australia. The umpires are also the best in Australia.
Umm, yeah. I'm not joking either.

Here you go JQ (select the competition from the drop down list in the top right corner):

http://www.sportingpulse.com/comp_info.cgi?c=1-6621-0-0-0&a=FIXTURE&compID=104777

The HFL (and many other leagues) have moved to an online matchday management system in 2010. All fixtures and results are now available online from 6pm on Sundays.

I understand that if you sign up (for free) to Sportingpulse as a user, you can even drill down and look at best players, goal kickers, and if completed by the club individual stats.

Cracking new development IMO.

Though one. Umpiring is one of those hard subjects, you dont want to knock them because it implies you could do a better job, well personally i dont think i could. To be honest we do not have a great standard in the hills. I believe the league has a pretty good 3-6 umpires and the rest pretty well suck. The HFL say we've got a good bunch of young umpires coming through but im yet to see any of these year. The only young one ive seen is Trevor Keen who used to play for Mt barker. He was okay but id be dissapointed if he was umpiring us come late september (if we make it :)). I dont know if anyone else feels a different way to this or generally would agree?

it would be great to see a close one against the goats this week, win lose or draw. it's been so 1 sided for the past 5 years in loftys favour, and pretty much in bridgys favour the few years before that!!!
should be perfect weather and there will be a big crowd there.
some ripping other games in the comp this week too!!!!

Bridgey have a quality ruckman in Charles and March is a pretty good back up so it could be a big day at Spark park on saturday for the Raiders!!!! Will you be hitting the Green Shed V-man?

hi innersanctum
cant wait for this weeks clash at the fortress looking to win our first cutting cup for a few years.
usually like to take up a spot on the outer wing mate (heysen trail side) in between the benches. gives me a feel for the coaching moves and interchange tactics being used. also if there is a bit of rain i like to feel like i am out there with the boys in the elements.

great to see the new fence that has gone up as well... i can picture a real indian premier league like atmosphere this week with fans just hanging from the fences like animals.

bring on the goats
V.

V,

This weeks game will be better than what most think. IMO bridgewater will come out on top! I recon you are right to mate, the crowd, will be a little bit bigger than normal! Maybe they'll hang from the new fence as it looks a treat!

Hopefully the boys get up! Good luck Raiders!!!

Go raiders!!!!!!!!

Lofty by 10+ goals this week against the hapless Raiders. Agree or disagree, this will happen.

Heard that the big lofty ruckman is back this week.. was only a bit of bruising on his knee.. and J mac will be back after that ankle injury as well.. and also Racer Mehta is back from a couple of weeks in Sydney.. seems a much stronger lofty side this week id imagine - couple of handy inclusions for this week.

Agree with MOST of that SK3, except i don't think that it was really that one-sided in Bridgey's favour up until 2004. I played for Lofty in some struggling times and still won a few (and lost a few) against Bridgey, when both teams were sitting near the bottom of the ladder.
Pellet - IF those blokes are all in I'd imagine it goes well in Lofty's favour. It'll be interesting to see if Lofty use Peto at FF after 6 last week. Although someone with great kicking like Wood could be a cheeky flanker running off forward contests and having a shot or two.
Cheers to magpie and DA for the info re results. early in the season but i reckon the Club Shield would be interesting viewing. Could come down to juniors as to which 'club' as a whole finishes bottom.

my tips for the week
blackwood vs mount barker - match of the round if the roos win they could go undefeated
bridgewater vs mount lofty - can tell you there has been a lot of rainfall overnight in verdun. wet scrappy game should suit the determined raiders - bridgey by 4 goals and i will shout all members of the winning a grade side a beer of choice at the RAIDER BAR.
hahndorf vs onka valley - doggies comfortabley after hahndorfs pathetic showing last week
ironbank vs uraidla districts - uraidla will smash the soon to be relegated ironbank into submission
lobethal vs birdwood - tiges to clock up their second win for the year.

come on lads. its been too long since we have got our hands on some silverware.

Well you are dead right there V because if they lose they definitely won't go undefeated

I think Lofty will get up and Birdwood to bounce back after their pathetic display against a average team last week!

i meant all year... maybe i need to break it down for you.
blackwood is their last big challenge... they have beaten the highly over rated hahndorf and the 2 teams that have won the last 5 flags... so if they beat blackwood... mount barker could potentially have an undefeated season.

so yes I am dead right.
and pathetic display is being generous...

Vaughan i think you may see a vastly improved ironbank over the next few weeks with a couple of quality inclusions this week and the team will get stronger as the year progresses 8)

DA - are you gonna be able to fill us in re whether the Devs have some ins this week?
Vaughan - I can't stand your mob but I have to admire your spirit, and putting your money where your mouth is. In all seriousness though, I want to know what's changed from last year and where your guys could win this week's game, and don't say determination, as I know the Devs hate losing to you guys as much as the other way around!

Hey Vaughan I was very surprised to see you say Blackwood are the last of the better sides to play Mt Barker. Surely with the way you have been talking Bridgewater up they would be the toughest side for anyone to play.

Nah mate, I'm not able to get up the hill to much these days.

As I understand it though, Luitjes' injury wasn't as bad as first though and he could be back shortly.

Pipes had better tear some opposition sides a new one, as a couple of us bought him at last weeks player auction, so I'm gonna be riding him like Makybe Diva for a return. ;)

Up the Devs.

Can't wait for Lofty to smash the Raiders this week and am looking forward to Vaughan's excuses why his beloved Raiders performed so poorly. Again 10+ goals, bring it on.

hi jq
as i said in an early post there is a feeling around the club that we will be genuinely competitive that honestly hasnt been there for years.
we have a new coach who is a good motivator and for the first time in a while we managed to retain some quality recruits from the year before.
there are some blokes at the club who have played through a tough period and with the injection of even more talent will be given the opportunity to shine. i see us as in a similar position to mount lofty in 2005, who after not winnning a game for 2 or 3 years managed to finish 5th by adding some great recruits to a bunch of loyal young locals... and we all know what happened with that group.

we are obviously the underdog on saturday but i reckon its our time.

and Ballhog it makes me sick how much you bag out your old club. put a cork in it.

one has to at admire your passion, but you do sound like a complete moron. we are only 3 games into the season! hopefully the whole comp doesn't completely have disrespect for your club because of your sh**house posts on this forum. It's all about opinions but it seems you are shooting yourself in the foot here on a number of levels.
