It is Ben Eckermann, ex port Power. Badly concussed in the incident with Tyson Stenglein (not Kerr).
Stenglein got one match and it was Ben's last AFL game. Spent the next 2 years at Sturt where he was concussed too many times to remember. Even wore a helmut for a while but was never the same player after. Played in the Sturt's Reserves premiership, and been at Bridgewater for a couple of years.

I'm pretty sure this is his second year at Bridgewater. I'm told he is well liked around the Club and is a natural leader, which explains why they have made him Club Captain.

hi monte
thats not what ive heard.
have it on pretty good authority that you guys are in a bit of injury trouble or maybe thats hahndorf... i get confused with all the pi$$weak excuses that magpiemaster serves up.
to be honest with you i find the topic of guernsey suppliers more interesting than hahndorfs injury list.
we are coming off a good win mate so lofty should be more worried about playing good footy than any earthquake activity. its gonna be a cracking match and our best chance of knocking you boys off since 2004.

Looking purely at results, I agree - it should be a cracking game.
It's great that the old rivalry will be a fierce contest once again.

It's interesting that many have started to write the Devils off. Let's remember that Round 1 was a relatively narrow loss to a much improved and strengthened Mt Barker side that has since easily accounted for everyone's tip for Premiers - Uraidla, and Round 2 was a loss away against a Blackwood side that has also easily accounted for Uraidla.

What's also interesting is that nobody has written Uraidla off, despite their heftier losses to Mt Barker and Blackwood.

fair point, DA. Two losses to 2 very strong teams. Should still be a fairly good game at the stamp though. I think with Onkas easy start, injuries to key Magpies and devils, we might have to wait a few weeks yet til we see who'll help make up spots 3, 4 and 5...

What teams are looking good in the maggoo's? Points in the maggoo's may play an integral part if a team is fighting relegation?

From what i'm hearing, it seems as though, Lofty are struggling for some height this year! Is this true? Bridgey have a quality ruckman in Charles and March is a pretty good back up so it could be a big day at Spark park on saturday for the Raiders!!!! Will you be hitting the Green Shed V-man?

hi innersanctum
cant wait for this weeks clash at the fortress looking to win our first cutting cup for a few years.
usually like to take up a spot on the outer wing mate (heysen trail side) in between the benches. gives me a feel for the coaching moves and interchange tactics being used. also if there is a bit of rain i like to feel like i am out there with the boys in the elements.

great to see the new fence that has gone up as well... i can picture a real indian premier league like atmosphere this week with fans just hanging from the fences like animals.

V,

This weeks game will be better than what most think. IMO bridgewater will come out on top! I recon you are right to mate, the crowd, will be a little bit bigger than normal! Maybe they'll hang from the new fence as it looks a treat!

Hopefully the boys get up! Good luck Raiders!!!

Lofty by 10+ goals this week against the hapless Raiders. Agree or disagree, this will happen.

haha somehow I don't think so. I think it will be a great game this weekend that could go eitherway! Raiders may just pull off an upset with the home ground advantage. Raiders by 5 points

i wouldnt say blackwoods win on the weekend was easy.won by about 3 goal. and anyone in their right mind wouldnt write off mt lofty after what they have done in the past few years. they will account for bridgy

Raiders beating Lofty is as farcical as people tipping IB to beat them last week. Time will tell i guess, can't wait for the BLOCKBUSTER Bridgy v IB, now that will be one to watch out for, can't wait and will be there with bells on.

This is classic! Shanty v the Goats, as if we're gonna agree!
I actually reckon it'll be close...ish. The height will help Bridgey on the small oval but Lofty still have that quick movement and guys that can have dobs from well...the centre square.
And didn't the Raiders lose to Lobey... ;)

On another note, what's with the HFL website? No results from this year at all. Would love to see how other grades other than A Grade's panning out. So whilst investingating where a possible resource could be, I looked up Hills Football League in Wikipedia. Interesting run down with this little nugget:
It is one of the biggest leagues in South Australia. The umpires are also the best in Australia.
Umm, yeah. I'm not joking either.

Would be the second biggest behind amatuer with 21(?) clubs and 5 senior + 6 junior premiership seasons in two divisions. Not sure if you were saying that part was a dumb comment. The second part is obviously a joke (hopefully). To be fair I don't think the umpiring thus far this year has been too bad.

Was absolutely referring to the umpiring comment, not the actual size of the leagues. I had a chuckle. Then vomitted.
