The Berri Football Club is set to receive a huge boost ahead of the 2013 RFL season, with the possible reuniting of two vital cogs from its 2010 A grade premiership.

Coach Rodney Hankin has returned, with star ruckman Jason ‘Pumpa’ Sutherland also a chance to join the Demons.

After finishing fourth last season under Allan ‘Alby’ Brand, the return of Hankin and Sutherland could be crucial in helping the Demons again reach the grand final.

"I’m in discussions with ‘Pumpa’ now," Hankin said.

"We got him fairly cheap last time, but we’ll have to pay good money for him this time."

That's if he ends up here.
I've heard since that he could be off to the US to live.
But who knows at this time of the year.

He's moved to the US and eloped with his missus.

Na not that, just dont really care if he is in Berri, Dallas or whereever he ends up.

His aggressive style was good to watch in the country though, always stirred the pot.

Why isn't it a story, BC?

I'm saying his name should have never been mentioned to the media. if he signs, then speak to the media and do a story.

The club may be using the media to leverage their position.

If the player is still undecided, the story makes it sound like they have basically told the club they are 90% coming, the player in question gets wind of the article, they may believe they will look bad in the public eye for turning their back on the club (especially if its a club they have played with before), hence it tips them into coming...

It can also go the other way, some of the money hungry players wanting to big note themselves, and punish the club for making it public knowledge, attempt to make the club look unprofessional.

It all depends on the player in question, all part of recruiting!

It's fair for the club to clairfy it's position.
"Yes, we are talking to him." or "No, it's a pile of sh*t."
I'm pretty certain Rod knows what he's doing. Probably the best PR coach I saw in my time in the Riverland, up there with Crutchy.
Questioning Rod's judgement?

Sure?

Yep. I'd be very surprised if Rod was happy with how the article was written. That's the last I'm saying about it.
