Buckets has been holding a place in the reserves team from all reports, so I don't think we will see him back in the hills in the near future. Was a pretty even match, Barker kicked to a bit of a lead which the Devils clawed back and got to within 4 points in the last qtr, but Baker ran the match out better and probably delivered into the forward line better and snuck away in the end.

Lofty did look to be lacking talls, which is a problem thoughout the whole club this year but they will have to battle though that. That being said, the new ruckman Lutjes looked good & gave plenty around the ground & veteran Full forward Kym Welsby kicked 2 goals early but was then injured. Mirrabello also looked quick & had good skills so they should be around the finals mark again but will need big seasons from flash & pistols in front of goals if they are going to kick big scores.

Yeah nice one bazz. Sounds like the lads will be around the mark. Hopefully spenda is still looking for another recruit or two, maybe a few ressies rejects or something of the like, wouldn't hurt.

Where did this Mirrabello come from? Obviously can play a bit.

Kym Welsby AKA Fish Brain from SHOC's i think Bazzw.
If it is, a funny story about him one day while playing cricket for SCIB's , he took an easy single and while casually slowing down coming to the crease the bat stuck into the ground about an inch form the crease , he went tail over head and fininshed up being run out by that inch.
Good bloke - must be old now !

Welsby would be late 30's, won the Mt Lofty B & F in 1994!

Dashin - Mirrabello is about 20 years old was a barker junior, then played down at Westies & played quite a few reserves games as well as captaining the 17's. Played a few games for Strath last year but has joined Lofty to play with school mates.

I must say, I am not surprised that bridgey lost yet again. Here is a tip for them, Money does not breed success. I am sure that there are some great volunteers and supporters that work hard and get to come out and see a bunch of guys drive up in cars from the city every saturday. I don't blame the players, I hear they are paying guys big $$ who played b grade in a city division last year. Changerooms and facilities and then culture give people a reason to want to come to the club rather than having to pay them!

I'm looking for a C-Grade Club to play at. Can anyone point me in the right direction. What days/nights do C-Grade play?

Not for 16 rounds mate. What happens in August when you have a few blokes out injured, is pissing with rain and you have to travel to Milang on a Sunday morning?
Plus it's a huge additional stretch on volunteers.

Hi,
vaughan here
long time player and supporter of the bridgewater fc.
despite the insipid start out at lobethal on saturday I still think we are a definate finals contender. with the a good bunch of recruits such as Malinovski (who learnt his trade at the feet of Porplyzia) and Barlow (brother of the fremantle sensation Mick) we will still win enough games to make the 5.
If big lynch cant get a handful of wins on the board with this playing group by the end of the courier cup rounds his a$$ will definately be on the chopping block!

hello dashin,
its a marathon not a sprint... and mark my words lobethal have improved.
they were really up for round 1 out on their own dunghill and with a lot of boys new to the hfl we simply didnt come to play and just lost to a hungrier team.
they just seemed to get more numbers to the fall of the ball and our wayward goal kicking didnt help.
lynchy will learn a thing or two from the clash as well and once the new boys get a bit of a taste for hills footy and start to gel as a group we will knock of a few teams.
hopefully we can use the confines of bridgey oval to our advantage as well and make it a bit of a fortress that visiting teams will fear.
to answer your question about us making the five i think a few teams are a little more vulnerable this year and you will see a lot of upsets. with loss of players i see lofty and hahndorf as very winnable games, as well as ironbank and birdwood who we will need to beat if we are fair dinkum.
onkas this week will be a great clash and i think my boys might surprise a few.

That is one thing Bridgewater does well - sheer cliff face on one half of the oval, rapids on the other and a stinking mudpit in the middle hahah no-one can escape that place
