Footy's back!!!!

Rodneys tips for Rd 1 -

Strath to good for Mclaren and will have a very good year - 30 points
Langhorne Creek over Myponga/Sellicks by 20 points, a new Mypnga, will be interested to see how they get on.
Willunga over Encounter Bay to kick start a good year
Victor Harbor to beat Mt Compass quite comfortably for me, 50 ish points
Yankalilla in a tight one against Goolwa/Pt Elliot, both sides will be desperate to get off the mark and Yankalillas favourite son to have 30+ touches.

Good luck to all today.

No real suprises here considering the side we had on the park... Yank played a good brand of footy. I would recommend that opposition coaches do some solid research on Yank because there are very few players that would be recognisable to GSFL followers (i counted 6 guys from our round 15 clash last year) and the new blokes can play. They look to be in a similar position to what we were last season and could be dangerous. A big thanks thanks to Matt Doyle. The only Yank player to come and have drink afterwards at the club.
You can love football, but it wont always love you back!

Mt Compass 2-2 3-4 7-4 8-5
Victor Harbor 6-2 11-5 13-7 18-10

Victor looked great - hit their targets - flooded back well and moved the ball quickly thru the corridor
Mt Compass persisted but kept turning the ball over or kicking to a contest - had a great 3rd qtr against a gale force wind to set up an interesting last qtr with the wind - kicked the first goal but Victor bottled it up and in the end kicked away in the last 10 mins.

Good hit out at Pongy yesterday. Close game with Sherwood & Big Matty James being the difference at the end. McGregor & Basir look to be handy players aswell. No trouble with the creek boys sticking around for a drink after the game. Get your car started Limb? :)

Also a huge night for the club with the players auction, well supported by all. After some clever grouping of players & a few boys driving up prices, the group of Wal, Tilt & Wack Hutchinson sold for $hitload!

Yeh he was good, won a lot of 50/50 contests, tackles hard. There was a number of players who could of finished in the BP's, very hard to pick.

Difficult conditions at the bay yesterday, a big oval and windy made it tough to score into the breeze and also with it! To the bays credit they battled hard all day. Cam Lintern down back was very good, leads by example for his team and was very good! The Baggs boys always find the footy, brown and butler worked hard in the middle and Harvey had a presence up forward.

For us Glass, Brown and Haskett were very good and provided great rebound from defence, Miegel in his first game did some very good things along with Delaney and Hams and Guitink presented strongly up front and have us a great target. Young Jake Standfield rucked very well for us. We overused the handball and tried to run hard but let ourselves down with some of our decision making! Plenty of upside and a 71 point win is a good start.
