Red Cards apparently are used to wipe you a*** after the game.......
What a Joke.......... Surely the umpires will be happy how well the commission supports them

exactly... if an umpire deems an incident warrants a red card during the game it should be an automatic 2 game suspension. the player/club can then decide if they challenge and if successful it can be reduced to 1 game. if the commission doesn't back umpires decisions they will ignore these incidents and they will only get worse. a lot of these players get off due to technicalities but if an umpire reports a player for striking he has seen the player hit someone shouldn't matter whether its with his left or right hand, open or closed fist etc.

Wow. Heard he was almost certain to get 2-3 weeks.

What if a club can argue that the red card was excessive & perhaps only warranted a yellow card compared to other instances throughout the year that have only resulted in a yellow card for players. Surely the club/player has the right to contest their charge & not have to cop an automatic week of just because it was a red card.
If you can keep your head when all around you have lost theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation.

Sorry, that didnt make that much sense, i just mean that, it seems funny that the RFL were trying to crack down on umpire abuse last year, then when a coach gets reported for it, by an umpire, they let it slide.

I am only going on second hand information of the incident, so there may not have been much in it. just sayin

Being there first hand, I can tell you that there wasn't much in the incident with Dack. If he was to get suspended for that It wouldnt be justice for what others have done in the past and got nothing for their actions.

Didn't think there was much in that either. Thought there may have been a small strike but as you will read in the budget tomorrow, Hankin pleaded guilty but his charge was down graded. Thought the two guys that were reported in the U18's were in big trouble. But having talked to one of them today, I understand the umpire that reported them didn't supply efficient evidence. They also had their charges down graded. Might have been the case in all four of the reports coming from Berri V Loxton with the same umpire.

I thought the umpiring in the 'B' grade saturday was first class. BC cutting a fine figure, but he did OK

I also thought the Senior Umpires were good as well. Even Tony was better today. Can some one tell me what happens if you get a red card one week and a yellow the next. Is there any automatic penalties for this???

As I understand he wasn't reported during the game - but should've been.
Interesting in the Budget this week that the majority of people who were reported pleaded guilty and were given reprimands.

Yellow Card for retaliating from an errant eblow to the head in a marking contest apparently unless WFC has reported him separately?

I think that all RFL umpires are doing well to be honest, but something needs to be done about the way a particular umpire chooses to umpire against Berri. He was clearly the umpire in control just prior to the yellow card and saw the Berri player, who was significantly targeted by the oppostition, get hit and knocked down behind the play yet chose to turn a blind eye. A small fight had broken out and he chose to approach and communicate with the Berri player who had been hit which resulted in a yellow card for talking back to the umpire. the Barmera player who struck the berri one initially, then gave that umpire a tap on the back just after the incident when a goal was kicked. I would hardly class his performance on Saturday as good enough, his inconsistency being evident towards both sides.

So was Burgers reported? I did hear that the Magpie faithful weren't to happy with the incident, which resulted in Thomson not returning to the field.

Not real bright by the "magpie faithful" as isnt the idea of the huddle to support YOUR team - antics like that will only end in disaster. I wasnt at the game and dont condone the incident but does doing that make them any better than Burgers - i think not.

Geez we're getting a bit precious here aren't we.
Nothing wrong with a bit of emotion in Country Footy.

Interesting comment by one of the umpires that no comments are to be made to the opposition players. Surely he couldn't be serious.

Im with you Stun, Whatever Burgers did, people dont get upset over nothing so it must have been dirty and behind play if he wasnt reported

i think everone is missing the point here and that is that Burgers will seriously hurt someone one day, i dont mean a broken cheekbone or leg when he uses his size advantage on smaller players, i mean that player won't get up and may never play sport again and then he and Renmark will have something to really worry about.
personally i think that if he had have recieved a red card and not a send off the magpie faithfull would have been satisfied
