Anyone able to shed some light on a text to the editor in today's pioneer, regarding coppers in plain cars at an indys match? Indys as I'm sure rfl does quite often has coppers turn up for a watch or whatever, never anything suss in it however the author implied that was the case

maybe to keep an eye on any undesirable characters...

on another note any idea why in a 6 team comp teams simply don't play home one week and away the next?? heard it had something to do with loxton & loxton north not both playing home or away on the same week!! if that's the case what is the reasoning behind that??

I'll admitt that I am no fan of Tony Florence as an umpire .... and I do think that he had an average day on Saturday....
He would have been really happy with Mick Trussells performance on Saturday as it really made him look good...... ;) ;)

I understand that umpires have average day's like players do.

But, put yourself in their position and umpire with Barmera players whinging all day long. Especially some big name on ballers who are reportablly well paid players.

I also understand that some umpires went to a Barmera training to help foster relationships between umpires and players which was instigated by the Barmera coach.

I wonder if the Barmera coach would be happy with the way his players behaved on the field Saturday?

I have umpired, so don't think I don't know what goes on. I do believe that in general the umpires have been very good this year. After last years much discussed umpire performances and bad supporters abusing umpires, I think everyone has improved.
However, umpires MUST judge every decision based on what he sees.... every time, not try to show their authority. This is not about squaring up or teaching the players a lesson, it's about umpiring the game fairly and as it unfolds.
If, they did this the players would soon get back on side.

As you play more sport and get more experience you will understand this more......

I don't know how umpires do it week in week out to be honest. Definitely need a thick skin. I had been umpiring the B Grade and the juniors this year and generally, the teams have been great. Umpired a team a couple of weeks back and they were an absolute disgrace. I almost lost my shit and it's put me off umpiring for the rest of the year. It's hard to be balanced when umpiring when you are copping an absolute gob full start to finish. Especially when you're doing it because nobody else puts their hand up.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Can feel like it's pretty personal too, I bet.
It must be hard umpiring blokes you see down the street or at the pub or whatever.

I agree it's not great at times, but we all play or have played the game and we all have been frustrated with decisions...... no one is a saint, we are all guilty of whinging at umpires.... but this doesn't alter the fact that umpires SHOULD keep control and umpire each situation on its merits....

Does anyone know the scores from the MK v Ramco game on the weekend? Nothing updated on sporting pulse so I was wondering if there even was a game or was it another forfeit? Would be surprising considering they had a decent result the week before.

Bit in the BSR Lyrup game also including the dirtiest thing I have seen on a footy field, takes a real hero to walk up behind a bloke when the ball is at the other end of the ground and knock him to the ground with a punch to the head! Their supporters behind the goals seemed to prove tho! Real class act!

Pitty to hear about MK thought they had got it together after the previous weekends result. Fairly safe bet we will be getting a game off also this week then considering its our home game!
