Rooster wrote:sad day today as Steven 'Maxie' Walker will be buried after his tragic death last week... played for the Roosters for many years and also Callington I believe for one... most opposition players would remember him as the guy sitting in the forward pocket, that even though he carried a few extra Kg's and was about 4'11... was almost impossible to tackle and could kick goals from any angle, never missed a target with his delivery either... i personally remember him diving in head first to help me out when i had about 4 Kersbrook brutes hanging off of me!!
a great guy, and a tragic loss, particularly for his two young sons.
RIP Steven Walker.

Yep, spot on Rooster - way too young.

One of my favorite memories was when he was copping an earfull from the boundary (at Maccy I think) about who ate all the pies and he took an absolute cracker of a mark right in that pocket and proceeded to pull his shorts down so his ass was hanging out and then kicked the goal!!

Fair to say the crowd had a new sort of respect for him - very funny indeed!!

It was amazing some of the things he could do on the footy field. And despite his size, the opposition still couldn't catch him or tackle him when around a stoppage (especially when he was in goal range!!), i think he just mesmerised his opponents and would always walk off the field knowing he had at least made one guy look stupid for the game.

Rest easy Maxi.

Yeah cupido is playing at lofty, anyone who doesnt believe should head to the Bridgey Inn tonight and have a look for cupido talking with the recruiting manager and loftys coach and looking to sign on the dotted line for a LAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGE amount, and thats straight from damian himself

So how did this meeting go last night? Is Cupido now a signed, sealed Devil?

my mail is fisher and block have signed with the Roos

The guys signed this morning in a meeting with the pres, coach and one player of the leadership group. Great signings for a young team, should be a better year than last if we can keep them on the park most weeks.

What an absolute waste of talent! This lad has blown an opportunity that some guys would kill for but aren't anywhere near as talented as he is.
When this guy started at Brisbane, he was touted as the recruit with the most talent for many years by most AFL talent scouts. One I spoke to was absolutely chuffed that Brisbane had picked him up and had huge plans for him, so what's happened to him since?
Lack of desire or self discipline it appears which is a real shame.

very strong rumour going around the HFC that he's left...

Story is Cooper and Lomas where both asked to kindly find a new club as the pies are trying to shake the reputation of being a club that all hate each other.... Good move

I wouldnt have thought Lomas would have been asked to move on.. very very good player even if he didnt play much good footy this year.

hahndorf are gonna have to find some players ASAP, because if they have lost Brodes, Bishop, Coops, Howman and Kaesler which have been rumoured we are in a world of trouble, because if they think the younger brigade from the B grade are gonna come up do the job they are completely and utterly deluded!!! if hahndorf lose all those players we will be sitting alongside lobethal and probably get talked about next year to move into the country division

I am told this is not a 'fait accompli', he's meeting with another club tonight and one next week.

Brodes has definately not been shown the door at Hahndorf and that is from an extremely good source at Hahndorf!

Heard it was a pretty good turn out for the first run at Ironbank last week. From what i'm told there were quite a few new faces.
