I thought it was just umpires and officials, such as goal umpires.

Yeah they can lay reports.
Very rare that they get upheld though.
Interesting to see that Wednesday night's was.

The umpire must have seen something as well you would have to think, otherwise
it is the club's word against the other.

Yeah probably. Unless there were other reliable witnesses.
We laid a club report last year against a player and he got a few weeks too.

Only Westies can answer that, maybe they have to many second rate Victorians on their list that they can't cut, also i understand he can't go to another league club as he signed a contract at westies last year

Well he can go to another club, they'd just have to pay for him.
Would he be worth the $$$ to another club...

I heard a rumour that the cobby / Lyrup game got pretty heated.

Any truth to this ?

Heard that too.
I know the game was called off early as a player was knocked out and taken in ambulance.
I believe the players said there's no point staying out here for the few minutes remaining in the match as they waited so the umpires called the game then and there.

Also, all the best to BIG SEXY, who injured his knee pretty badly on the weekend.
Hopefully it's not career ending because it didn't look good.
