no s***t

blusey, whats the go with some of your under 17s gettin permits and playing under 17 for an extra season??? surely rossco isnt that scarey!!

so is the game on tommorrow night?

The U/17's rules have changed this year with those normally coming out to seniors still eligible to play 17's until they have played 3 or 5 A grade games. Is that right Bluesy? I think because the 14's has now been lifted to 15's there is zero flow on into the 17's this year. Again, is this right Bluesy?

Trial game not on tomorrow. Some talk of it being next week but I can't see it happening so close to Round 1, know I won't be playing a trial next week anyway......

Under 17's playing with a permit are allowed to play 5 A Grade games.
They are also not allowed to play under 17's and A Grade on the same day.
They are not allowed to be named the 21st man in any circumstances.
That's for this year only, to cope with the other age changes.

So if they don't get a permit they have to play seniors all year. basically all colts coming out this year should be applying for a permit?

That's right....
apparently they'd be granted to anyone who wanted one, no matter their abilities, fairly pointless if they're going to play the first 5 League matches anyway...
Only thing is though, permit players are ineligible for goal kicking and medal votes.

They should have moved the U17s up to U18s since the other grades have changed. Some kids at 17 are still a bit scared to play seniors and then leave footy all together and then player numbers are down. In my old league in the city had U18s and it was good footy to watch.

As for the trial next week it will either be Tues or Wed if it happens. Apparentl Tasmans told us that their players are too sore from their trial on the weekend!

if kids are too scared to play seniors after under 17s lincoln must be the scariest league, because most other leagues on ep are under 16s arent they. those kids dont have a problem playing seniors after that.

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]

Im not suprised to be honest. The sprays that they recieve is not warranted and people should now learn that their actions of the past are now coming back to bite themselves on the ass.

Luke Abel off to the Yorke Peninsula after round 3 is now confirmed. Jarv may have to go one more year to try and add some size to the backline!!

The age group change from 14's to 15's brought us in line with PAMC but more importantly alleviated a problem that existed with many clubs having strong numbers in under 14's but many of those kids dropping off the radar when they had to move up to 17's. 2 year age gap between grades (esp 15 - 17) was seen as a more realistic step so all grades shuffled up one (except 17's).
It was expected that the move would place some pressure on numbers in under 17's at the start, but hopefully this will fix itself over the next couple of years. Most clubs have a number of last year under 15's more than capable of filling in for the 17's on a regular basis if needed.

The permit plan was brought in to appease 2 clubs who were concerned about under 17 numbers. In effect have a stepped approach to help lessen the impact. What sas writes is correct..we have a hybrid Under 18 comp this year with provisos.

Should work OK..the interesting point will be to see how clubs try and manipulate the new rules.

Clubs need to work hard to make sure that doesn't happen. There are mechanisms in place (permits, player for the day) to enable clubs to field teams. Under 15's can play 2 games on the day, sides only need to field 12 players to make a game......OR you can throw your hands in the air and say it is all too hard....your choice.
