Hey magpie master, there are a lot of people of care about Bridgy, and the state of the competition, just because they're struggling, and have been for too long, doesn't make it a sh**t club. I know a few people who think your club is sh**t, but we don't rub your nose in that fact.

The HFL board are quick to preach how great the competition is, yet if you check out the Central Div percentages you'll see three clubs are sitting over 80%, and the bottom two are between 20 and 30% - that does not equate to a good competition. The Country Div is a bit more even, although the top club is at 85% and the bottom club at 1.95% I think those numbers, in general, are an indictment on the HFL. I believe they (HFL) have a responsibility to maintain as even a comp as is possible - to do otherwise, or do nothing will see clubs go to the wall as they will be unable to sustain the financial burden of trying to be competitive.

The (current) stronger clubs will have a moan about working harder and lifting the standard of the competition etc etc, but the bottom line is that no matter at what level you'd like to discuss, spending the amount of money currently going around the HFL is not sustainable.

lol what ladder are you looking at Howard? You obviously dont follow central div closely if you think the competition is stuffed.

What would you like them to do? Drop Lobey, promote TV? You realise that would mean a Spoon at Bridgy in 2010?

Agree with you about not being Sustainable tho, but I think it will take one club to crack before the HFL do anything. I just hope its not IB...

agree with you there banker. i think the hills central competition is one of th best in the state and has some top quality footballers running around in it. also think that the competiton is pretty even except for maybe 2 or 3 teams but its up to those teams to close the gap not up to the top teams to lower their standards. to b a good competiton the teams need continual improvement which will continue to attract good quality players. u can see this year ironbank beat lofty, birdwood beat blackwood, both of those teams are finals contenders and beaten by teams outside the 5. i think its as even as it has been for a while.

i think the results were as expected. handorf over blackwood and mt lofty over onkas.
meaning this weeks games should be really good games after dropping the weak link of the finals series.

any tips early on in the week? or any injury concerns?

Must be a while since there has been 4 sides with a legitimate chance of grabbing the flag. Good to see.

I reckon Hahndorf will get over Uraidla and Lofty over Blackwood. Perhaps a Hahndorf v Lofty GF. Can't say I'm confident on any.

The Chief to take the Medal wednesday night - that I am confident on.

Bradley the favourite for mine also. When was the last time a player won it without his side making the finals?

It certainly appears that the final series is alive this year. It certainly would be great to be playing in the finals series against the top sides of the competition.

Really looking forward to the results, cos by looking at the lists alone, and not being in Australia to see any of the games, it appears that any side on their day can win. The next 3 weeks will certainly be an entertaining read on here.

Keep everyone posted on the games ahead!

I didn't catch the whole story but the snippet i heard was rather interesting.
On 5AA sports show someone gave a rumour that Sturt would not be playing at Unley next year but would be based at Mt Barker.

maybe i heard it wrong but this is definetly what it souned like.

Has anyone from Mt Barker or anyone in the know heard anything about this?
Wouldn't have thought the current oval is up to scratch so you'd think they'd be building a new one.

Anyone care to comment?

This has come about from the council that owns Unley Oval. They want to sell the oval off to put in housing, leaving SFC without a home ground at the moment. The general idea is that they will ask to play at cornerstone, 'if' they are kicked out. They will not play any games at Mt Barkers ground as the facilities are not SANFL standard.
However, the new proposed ovals on Bald Hills Rd at this stage will not involve Sturt at all, as the community is of more importance to the council, going by the council recreation planner.
Also Sturt have very little funds to have any influence on the plans etc.
Like SK said, the rumour of Sturt moving up here always comes up every 12 months.

and by 6 votes at that. Polled in 11 of 14 games - a great effort. Ebert 2nd.

Chief will be back in 2010 and in a Thunderers unit that plays finals.
