Strange we haven't heard from Blockie all week (Tanunda did have a bye last week), but I'm sure he'll be in squawking next week after they rape and pillage freeling this week.

I know it will not happen but how good would it be for Freeling to get over Tanunda. But you should never say never when it comes to this great game. How many time at all levels of this game have we had a upset.

Blockie has been silent all week, must be smoking the metty and bottling the port for sat game, plenty of Schusters, Musters, Leskes, Lienerts etc coming from Freeling, there is Blockhead all through this league. Heres one from left field, it looks as though the mid murray league is going to shut down with RAMCO off to another league. This leaves the 3 clubs wondering what to do. Perhaps 2 or possibly the 3 could merge to form the 10th side in the BLG hence getting rid of the bye. It would be the "Blanchtown Swan Reach Robertstown Sedain Cambrai Football Club" (BSRRSCFC). Surely they could find enough good footballers down there to be very competitive in this league.

Another good rumour is that Freeling have approached Bomber Prouse and have left the door open to him to return next season as the senior coach. I understand though that Bomber Prouse will probably refuse this offer and stay on with Kapunda.

I'm not surprised that freeling have approached Prouse, just 1 year too late, he'd be better off staying at kapunda, he's on a good thing there. More likely Robertstown will merge with Eudunda & play in the NEFL, will be interesting to see what happens to the mid murray clubs.

Hey Blockie, I was speaking to a connection that was at your complete flogging of Freeling, he said it was one of the most boring games ever played in the BLG but he reakons that you guys unleashed another potential gun on Sat. Give us the rundown on this Quinn guy, I hear he has moved over from Melb to work in the Barossa and used to play in the VFL or div 1 amo's.

Another 4 winners for me this weekend, I don't think there where any upsets. It now looks as though the fight for 4th spot is only between Willaston & Kapunda, with the bombers still favourites at this stage. Ango's are gone and will get trounced next sat, especially if the very clean, great sportsman, model citizen Bascombe is out. It is now obvious that the gap between the top 2 and the rest is massive.

Nice sarcasm skip, you really don't like B. B. do you? It sounds like once upon a time you might have been the recipient of a Bascombe belting

a hat? [i know for sure it wasn't sunny on sat ].[/quoteGood on ya for some positive feedback, I think that this is not the ideal scenario with 10 year old lads throwing the bag of air 3-4 meters to 7 ft ruckman, but good on the lads for having a crack. Obviously great footy etiquette by the Kap & Ang players and supporters for conducting themselves in an appreciative manner. Moz - Maybe the central umpire was trying to keep his wig on, very astute of you.[/quote]

Some class shown here by yourself mr Duke, you're obviously a pretty intelligent guy but with so many opinions, you'd be tough to live next door to. Would be enough to make a neighbour sell up & leave, keep up the good work

Actually JD I would have to say I have never played against B.B. This could either mean I played with him, was a B grader or just under the circumstances we never met on the field, take your pick. Another rumour was put past me on the weekend but the source is not reliable. They believe that there will be another coach stood down before the season is out and that would be the tigerman Scott Lee. I will repeat the source is not reliable and I will just sit on the fence with this one at this stage, just floating the rumour to see if you guys had heard anything.

Blockie your silence is deafening at the moment, must have eaten too much hot metty and drank too much port with the shusters, musters, leakes and lienerts on the weekend. It will be no better for you this week with the old rival Ango boasting plenty of good metty and port up in them hills (plus the odd goat). I reakon with a few out at the moment Blockie you may well be open for a big upset in the hills, especially if there is some rain later this week.

Skip thats a ridiculous rumour, despite a terrible start to the year lee was able to get a hell of a lot out of a very thin list, I'd think the hierarchy would be delighted with how they've done in a rebuilding year. My tip is there'd be a couple of coaches in gawler (not in yellow & black) who'd be more nervous about their futures

Actually went to the Barossa vs Centrals agme on the weekend and barossa made them look second rate and is very dissappointing for a team sitting third on the ladder. Interesting to note that the stand on the clubroom side that in years gone by was full, but on the weekend in a second vs third game was very thin, except for the usual loud mouth ex president maybe that is why the crowds are down people are too embarassed to be associated with that clown

Bang on re the ex president James he's a complete unit. Perhaps the association should stop worrying about people who actually show up (with a tent) and start addressing the piss poor crowds at Central & willaston

I can't see that the normally conservative Nuri Committee would replace Scott before year's end, however there was some rumblings that a significant group both players and supporters weren't happy with his coaching methods. This was mainly because of a lack of success with no thought given to the lack of cattle, and it has been pretty strong that he wouldn't continue next year whether he wanted to or not. I was one of those not convinced by the style of play he was trying to install, however over the last month I have had to eat my words like those disaffected. The recent success has left those manouvering in the backrooms between a rock and a hard place, and it will be very interesting to see how it all pans out.

Interesting re crowds. Lack of numbers or any downturn has never been mentioned as an item of business at any meeting of BLG I have attended in last 10 years or so. It certainly is an issue with Gawler Central and Willaston especially sparse at home. I believe that Freeling could only muster (no pun intended) a small group at Juggernaut Park last Saturday and Angaston nearly outnumbered Willaston at home on sponsor's day also. There is absolutely no promotion of BLG footy in Gawler other than the Bunyip and a quick straw poll in Murray St the other day revealed that only about 50% know the three (4???) Gawler teams exist. The only clubs in recent past that have actively engaged the community to come to games are Tanunda (left field Sven) and Barossa Districts (Bay 13). Sven has even gone so far as to engineer Alex Kennedy's 100th on Reunion Day Aug 9th. How good at promotion is that!! Only joking Blockie, but if it does happen in front of your previous centurions - Trimboli, Schrapel, etc it will cap your day off nicely.
PS - Not only because he's an old mate, but Gumby Schrapel's 103 back in 1972 was the best. No Interchange, No out of bounds on the full, no centre square (or diamond), fullbacks who ate their steaks raw and Adelaide umpires who didn't want to return for Wednesday night tribunals.

Childs has been ok at Willaston. He came to the club and they lost 6 on the trot. He was consistently one of the best performers over that time though. He has been used as a key backman but has also spent time on the footy. He will be important for them with the run home toward finals.

Thanks Slipper! Is he holding down a key position? I know the few league games he played for Sturt it was a back pocket on a tall or resting ruck. Unsure as to where he played in the reserves.

As I said JD just a rumour that I heard and I floated in the forum but I don't think the news will be to good for Lee next year. Bang on the money about GC load mouth ex pres, what a pain in the arse and I wouldn't want to be around my club either if he was there. Despite what anyone thinks about Bay 13 from what I have heard about their behaviour at the Nuri game could not be excused by anyone, that is why they have a ban on the tent. Urinating on caravans and then abusing the occupents probably was never going to go down too well. Appartently there is going to be a barrier built now between the oval and the caravan park. It won't matter anyway, they will just support without the tent.
