Mt Barker B's won by 4 goals to take the Courier Cup.

Interesting indeed. Ben Hollands will be a very handy inclusion for Blackwood. Ben is a great bloke and can play the game!

Anyone know what the link was to get him up there??

Blackwood will be happy to secure his services indeed.

S. McCormick would be one tie, but more importantly Blackwood has established really positive relations with the West Adelaide Football club since the zone changes at the start of the year. Possibly the zone changes opened a few lines of communication to different faces.

With McCormick and Hollands both being 5 point players, and a few other non-locals on the list, I reckon that the Woods must be right on the HFL points limit.

Yes the Council in there wisdom have been working on the wall side with a new drain and the trucks and equipment have cut up the oval. Especially close to the wall so the boundary was brought in about 5 meters to get away from the mud.

Bridgies' oval was always too big. Glad to hear that some decisive action has been taken.

Seriously, that effort from the council makes as much sense as a breast reduction.

I know a few Birdwood posters come on this site, and im interested to know what's happened over the past two weeks.

The Roosters have been ultra-competitive against the top teams in the early part of the season. but in the past two weeks have been absolutely thumped by Uri's and Handorf. We know they weren't games they were expected to win, but to lose so badly is a surprise.

Whats the problem ? Is it injuries which inturn impacts on depth ? when are the absent players due back ?

It looks as though the finals may be out of reach.

I had heard Saturday night that Lofty had lost on the weekend, but this obviously was not the case. Must have been a close game though, were Lofty down at any stage?

Lofty were down by about 5 goals at the half, they were playing a terrible brand of footy. They turned it around in the 3rd and 4th. Gordon started to get his hands on the footy and Fleet was unstopable in the air for all 4 quarters. OV missed a couple of crucial shots on goal in the last.

Yep, pretty much how you put it. We've had quite a few injuries in the last month and our depth just hasn't been able to cover them.
Dempsey, Roockley, Moerman, Matoga, Farrell, Luke Highfold and Friend all missed the Uri game and while we had the last two back for Hahndorf, Longman and Hanton were out.

With the juniors we have coming through plus some good recruiting again, hopefully we can build on our depth and be better again for 2010.

Although finals isn't probable, we're still looking forward to the rest of the year and you never know, if things go our way and we can pinch one against Onkas, we could sneak in!! ;)

Cheers

You'll have an interesting match-up against the Raiders then - cause when we played them two weeks ago, they also had a heap of key outs.

The result may depend on who's available and who's not. I heard that the Raiders captian (Flinn) is out for the year, so there's one you wont have to worry about.

The quality of the opposition was really evident also in these games. They are the 2 teams that i believe will play off for the GF and have a hell of alot of class between them.
You can blame games on injuries but we still had 18 lads out there and there is no excuse for demolitons. Looking to really amp up the intensity in a must win game this week.

Yeah, we're certainly not expecting an easy game against the Raiders. One thing that could be in our favour is that it's at the veledrome and not at the riverside vege patch which by the sounds of it has got even smaller!!

Hopefully the A's can get up and the B's can reverse the first round result, especially after they played one of thier better games last week just going down to Hahndorf.

Matoga is no longer considered an out, he's been missing for weeks. Birdwood let Harndorf kick 13 goals in the 2nd quarter and that's what they lost by. Lost their Captain and Krieg in 2nd half. Already talent depleted and there would have been at least 6 players playing that day, that were simply not up to the standard of A grade footy. Harndorf and Uri I'd say will playoff in the G.F. or Blackwood and they're quality sides and have the depth.

Someone posted birdwood still had 18 blokes on the field.... Yeah, but some of them are poo! and Harndorf were at full strength. I'm hoping the roosters will pick up this week

I heard a rumour Matoga was at training earlier this week. But he's only one guy, Birdwood will need many seniors back to return to the form that knocked off the Woodsmen at Blackwood. Should still dispose of the Raiders this weekend.
