A couple of new posters and all of a sudden we are all losing the plot. Gen Y, you make it sound like McMillan was the only player left standing in the colts and you go on to mention "all" the players that have left to go to South or to A Grade. The first thing to mention is that playing at South does defintitely not mean that you are too good for colts and it doesnt weaken the competetion. I read all these names in the paper today of these GSFL kids that got all of these awards at South development squads but some of these kids failed to make association sides or top 10/15 in the medal counts. Secondly colts play A Grade, that happens every single year and Jake McMillan was one of these guys. We cant have a go at a guy because he isnt a fast, flashy player. He isnt the biggest in the comp he is a work horse, who takes big grabs, wins games for his club, leads by example and polled more votes than anyone hence he won the medal.

Without been rude or arrogant I am sure that like myself, there will be plenty of GSFL posters that dont know this guy from a bar of soap. Tall, short, forward, back? Is he any good?

i understand where you are comming from, i am not putting any disrespect on the lad. Well done to him for winning it, i am going to admit that i was surprised he won the medal simply because when i played 17s i didnt think he was a medal contender, obviously i would have a different view if i was an umpire. I am also not saying that the South players and A grade players weaken the comp at all. the 17s is still strong, all i was saying is that big name players arent playing in the 17s atm.
would be dissappointing if the medal goes to his head though, hopefully not.

Very ordinary call on young Mcmillian. I think it's a breath of fresh air to have a 17's medal winner who isn't 5 foot nothing, and can run and break lines. I bet the bulldogs would be licking their lips in anticipation to get young jake into the A grade squad next year and nurture him into a future star! Nothing turns heads like big grabs and big goals, and thats what Jakey is all about!

Saturday winners
A's Willunga
Langhornes Creek will be a fair way from full strength. No Moore, Murgatroyd, Feast, Della and Follett
B's McLaren. Will get the benefit from above but in a close one
17's Myponga. Deserve to win, haircuts like sampson could weaken their strength
14's Goolwa.. Don't they win and lose by a point?...Goolwa by 2 points this year

I think we all just have to settle down on here a bit, THE KIDD was just posting his opinion and shuld probably think about the way he phrases his words first before posting, however i dnt think he meant to much malice in his post!

Overal tho Mcmillan did win a mail medal and that is that, its a mail medal meaning that in the umpires eyes his was the best performed u17 player this year, so congratulations to him, he may have been a different player to the typical mail medal winners but that does prove that he caught the umpires eye significantly as he is not in the normal mail medal winners mould!
So i think we can only congratulate the kid, that being Mcmillan, however allow people to have their opinions!

....... When did the crown close its doors?
Names like Melissa Johnson (Wimbledon), Blink 182 (Music Clip), Bruce McCauley (Cricket) and Helen D'Amico (Footy) these are the Real Hero's.

the crown has def shut its doors at the wrong time given the footy trips / netty trips coming in september. If you are looking for an alternative option try the G (grosvener) last week had a decent dj set up and doesnt have one of those gay lock out policies. Get in and get on it at the G

I again recommend the Hotel Elliot on a friday or saturday night, great food, alright bar ladies, mix of live music and DJ's and is going to ba amazing with the beer garden and being so close to Horseshoe bay this summer. Full credit to the peanut who owns it (trust me he is a peanut) he has done a good job there.

I wonder where all the Willunga boys are going to go and celebrate after there premiership? (my tip)
No lock out at the G! Sounds good. Hotel Elliot has always had potenital, great mix should go off in summer. As long as someone has something setup there going to make a killing $$$.
Any other club out there had there presentations yet? Also where is everyones footy trip going?

Re Mail Medal debate: From what I gather reading this site, McMillan played A grade games this year, yet still won a mail medal for the senior colts.... This bloke should be applauded and Mt Compass should be excited at what this kid will bring the club long term. He can only be compared to other current players in his league... no-one else, and the umps albeit I rarely agree with, have voted him the best player in the comp over a full season.... Well done McMillan... You are a mail medallist, because you were the best senior colt in the Great Southern Football League 2009... Keep it up....
