hasnt got the flick yet, the club advertises every year for coaching applicants unless the coach has signed a long term contract.

Can't say i have any idea who the kid is so will not have an opinion on whether he is a deserved winner or not, but there are going to be players that aren't one of the top 10 in the competition that win the medal, it's just the way it works. It's about what catches the umpires eyes and sticks in their mind.

And I would imagine that taking strong grabs, breaking through lines and kicking long is a style that would get you a few votes.

BJ is Genners training with the squad?

What is required for him to get a game this year? a drawn GF and replay?

Silly comment. He is strong, plays CHF and generally gets a very good opponent every week. He moves well for a big lad and does a lot of bullocking work and takes strong marks. As well as this he kicked the second most amount of goals in the comp (about 50 which is a good average 2.8 per game). If you watched the final on the weekend you would have seen that he was a big influence in the last quater and kicked the goal that sealed the match. Also played a bit of A Grade footy in a side that finished 3rd. He might not have been an out and out stand out, but he won and deserved it.

Grape Ape yes i would have thought so. We have a Scotty Lucas like CHF that only kicks long and doesnt handpass but he doesnt attract votes however will likely win our B&F this year along with the big Yetti Haskett.

Genas is done for the year Shoe Boy. Im not sure on the GSFLs policy on GF draws and whether its a full replay or a 5 min each way??

Not sure that your CHF 'breaks lines' either but the McMillan description sounds a lot like Haskett who very nearly won the A grade medal.

Even if the kid doesn't use the ball perfectly anyone who can move the ball 100m down field single handedly is gunna be pretty useful.

Very ordinary comments That Kidd.
No need to pick on juniors, mate.
I watched him play on Saturday and he won the game for Compass

i think that kidd is onto sumthin sort off. the past few winners werent "get the ball jam it onto the boot" type winners, Reid won it a few years back then beath then Pistili all players that have talent and didnt burn the Football however i think Jake stood out a little due to his size and had a goos season so well done to him, and congratulations to Moore and Haskett..

well said inch, the past winners have been qaulity players, either hard ball getters, players who rack up 30's consistently, or ones with supurb skill. or even all of the above. it has changed considerably the last year. yes he is bigger and probably stronger than most of the league, this would be the reason for his votes.

and i do believe that kidd was still eligible for juniors this year so i wouldnt call it picking on.
i think that result just goes to show that quality players have left juniors early mostly to play A grade or at south, with names of the likes of Beath, Garret, Pistilli, Young, 'Barrel' etc. its good to see the GSFl producing talent. when McMillan wins an A grade mail medal or comes in the top three consistantly like Haskett and Portlock, then we can say he is a genuine gun.

yeh i agree Gen Y, i can think of players that would typically be more likely to be mail medallists: Hourigan from Strath, Aston Place from Creek, Mahoney from Compass, Wenham and Hunter Bennett from Pongy, Michael Balas from McLaren, Chad Franceschini from Willunga are all 30 touch a game midfielders in senior colts, however McMillan is a very good CHF and can play in the middle similar to Pavlich from Freo, it is true that he is a different Mail Medallist, but I wouldn't say he was an undeserving winner.

well maybe he should respect the fact that 'umpires' make these decisions and shouldn't 'sound' that harsh to the individual award winner! I feel that 'bagging' an individual is very disappointing, degrading but most importantly DISRESPECTFUL to the individual!

understood, although i dont think that disrespect was intended. People have their views on who should win medals and who is a good player. Maybe That Kidd worded his comment wrong but i can see where he was comming from, because it was unusual to hear that Mcmillan won the medal as years of juniors was played with him. the argument has already been discussed that he is tall and maybe he won because other quality players have moved on. Everyone knows thats how juniors works. at the end of the day mcmillan has a mail medal, lets just see if it goes to his head on saturday, hopefully not as they have a huge game to win.
