Players like Steel, Genovese, Hams, etc all played junior footy at Willunga and chose to return after SANFL careers to play with their mates & for the club. There is no easy quick fix way to get success. Mt Compass is a classic example. They are where they are this week because 5 or 6 years ago they really focussed on junior footy and it is paying off now. Making your club family friendly and a nice place to be is also crucial as well as making everyone around the club feel special when they put their hand up to volunteer time, sponsorship and support. Very hard work and never an overnight thing.

Not too far off the mark there Hudson.
Compass have done an excellent job in building from the bottom up. Strathalbyn too is in much the same mould although with a bigger population and probably a little more $$.

Yetti, do you think the time is right for Mclarens to recruit some key position players & spend a few more $$$

Yes to recruiting and no to spending money

Five big names there LF. And five good players. Heard that Murgatroyd's knee is shot to pieces and won't be playing, and Follet is doubtful. No idea about the other three.

A couple of things on this weeks big clash between Willunga and Creeks

1. With Sturt playing Port on Saturday what does this mean regarding Feasts availability?

2. While I was seeing the orthopedic surgeon, was it Ben Moore that I spotted booking in for surgery? I couldnt be absolutely certain but i think it may have been.

Junior and Senior Colts medal count last night at the Willunga Football Club where both counts were very exciting both coming down to the last round. The leader board for both grades were a real log jam with the top 10 being very close.

Winners:

Junior Colts - Satish Lawson (GPE) & Jordan Francis (Y) tied on 35 votes

Jordan Francis leading goal kicker (55 goals), Matt Wiese (GPE) 47

Senior Colts - Jake McMillan (MtC) 30 votes, runner up Jarrad Cooney (LC)

Jarrad Cooney leading goal kicker, Jake McMillan runner up

I think getting rid of princi may have left you even further behind mate. Getting rid of him in hope of a return of an older coach with some older players isnt going to do much for the club in the young term (it may bring you some success short term but still succsess can be limitied) for some of the younger lads pongy recruited this year. I know some younger guys who are already looking to move on. Not having a crack and just my opionioun the bays are guilty of the same things.[/quote]

I very much hope your wrong cuzzy as us smaller clubs need to be doing everything right to compete against the larger clubs in a very strong leauge. On another note good luck L.F. on saturday, wouldnt it be a great start to grand final day if you guys played yank (our team isnt quite good enough) followed by myponga-sellicks against compass with mclarens against creek and willunga against strath to follow you would need two ovals to fit everybody in.

Think you will find in todays Times that Feast has not be named in the side. Big out, Willunga by plenty.

If you could entice they great man Bass back to the club that would also go along way in recruiting Mick, but I don't think you've got much chance in getting him back. Enjoying Sydney too much...just loves those gay mardi gras! ;)

He would be saving plenty of $$ in flights and accommodation to get there each year P32, so its a win/win for the great man!

I have just logged on from a long stint on the sidelines to see that Jake Mcmillian has won the Mail medal. This is a joke, yes he is a good bloke but there are better players worthy of the medal in the 17s , as all he does is get the ball and run through all the first years and kick an ineffective long kick and maybe take a solid grab, not enough to win a medal in my eyes.........
