I would hate to bring up silky's point but the only reason Torens Valley senior sides are doing well is $$$$$$. If they do not look after their junoir squads they will end up no where.

Silky, I think everyone has got your point now, do you have anything else worth contributing?

Agree, Bobby.
Guys, ignore trolls.
Any thoughts on my predictions/how the final 5 will shape. Just had a look at the ladder, and Blackwood CANNOT make it and Mt Barker must FLOG Onkas and Lobey lose by a lot to Uris. As you can see, I don't reckon that's a gonna happen!

I think we should forget about money and start talkin about what really matters, who is gonna win the flag??
My tips:
Country A's- Meadows, have the expierence in finals and firepower in the forward line.
Country B's- Torrens Valley, not sure about this one
Country u17s- Meadows, so far above everyone else
Country u14s- Birdwood, won Courier cup, would have to be favourites

Central A's- Mt Lofty
Central B's- Mt Lofty
Central 17's- Blackwood
Central u14s- Mt Barker

I have heard that Birdwood have a five year plan, i'm guessing they have some serious coin in the pocket. I would assume they have spent little over the last five years, have done their homework and are ready to strike with force. The transition though is a massive one, Good Luck to them for taking the challenge.

We can talk money ball, but lets not go overboard. What i have seen over the years is the front runners will always be accused of spending a fortune, and truth is they probably are. Don't be surprised if their are other teams forking out and missing finals though. It is ALMOST always bigger than dollars alone a club needs good structure and morale to be succesful over a lengthy period.

80's Pie the salary cap is not policed at all, take Torrens Valley for instance forking out megabucks, but in their declaration to the HFL player payments $0.00 thats right $0.00 Even my little old club declares more than $0.00

In regards to premiers Country will be decided by size of oval and conditions

- small oval Meadows
- boggy oval Meadows
- Large Dry oval Kangarilla

Central whichever of the following three that have better team morale

Uraidla (heard otherwise), Mt Lofty (sounds positive), Onkas ( under Bazz i think it would be good)

Stick my neck out and pick Onkas in a big upset !
If at first you don't succeed, you're running about average

alaska your right, the juniors would struggle badly...but would you rather the juniors struggling or the seniors because the fact is that their seniors would do ok compared with birdwoods...i would much rather see meadows up in div 1 before birdwood because they would be competitive in juniors and still ok in seniors

I agree bobby meadows would be resonable competion across the grades, but they feel they need more money to do it. the birdwood juniors would be very competive in central and i think they can feed them into the seniors to have a good base going forward but to now decide to do it must mean they have attained some sponsorship. (or sold some chips to some scouts!)

Country A's- Kangarilla
Country B's- Meadows, not sure about this one
Country u17s- Meadows very good team
Country u14s- Birdwood unbeaten I believe

Central A's- Onka's watch that midfield
Central B's- Mt Lofty
Central 17's- Ironbank Courier cup winners
Central u14s- Mt Barker to good

I recall the salary cap coming in for a few years now, Silky strong accusations about 'cheating'. Remember the Magpies being pretty good until the cash flow got a bit grimm. Let's face it, it's a case of no dough... no go for some clubs. Pine Avenue has had its share of mercenaries. May be the boot is back on the other foot ... Lofty to give them a big dose of how it is!!!
I reckon the club to actually come up is Kangarilla. They used to play in Central before they went to Southern, and by all accounts have inclusion back in HFL top tier ranks. Get set for the trip to Yaroona in 2008 I believe!

firstly sloppy is a loser. i reckon loby will go alright vs uraidla and they showed some real promising signs vs lofty and uraidla might be a bit sore after last week or even complacent. loby deserve to make the 5 and i cant see barker pushing for a spot. their year has been too inconsistent. should be a good finals series and each game should be a cracker. will be interesting to see how hahndorf go against lofty this week will be a sign as to how their finals may turn out. i agree with robby lets talk about footy not money.

one other thing. with birdwood coming up to centrals and the discussion about alternate guernsesy, yellow maybe what would that be like for the team wearing the guernsey. the automatic reaction would have to be to handball to the red and white. after doing it naturally for so many years it might be something difficult for the players. thoughts guys? should be interesting anyway. more importantly this week is gona be a great lead up to the finals with 3 crackin matches.

My earlier point was the yellow, I've been told that may happen.
Kangarilla to Central? Let's get Happy Valley, or maybe One Tree Hill and Willunga if they had teams! Bloody hell...
I agree, footballer, 3 great matches, but a lot has to go certain ways to change the 5.

Im picking Loby to beat Uraidla. Im not putting money on it but I reckon Uraidla will be sore and Loby are fresh and hungry to win.

wow i just read the teams on the window at bakers delight. some shocks there. surprised to see that coach grainger is gona give 3 or so youngsters from the 17s a run in the a's. also surprised to see sinclair, evans and wylie all come up into the A grade. giving wood, mehta and cutting a rest. maybe the devils arent goin to go full pelt at the pies and ease into finals. move might backfire on grainger.

KNEW IT. I had a feeling he'd leave out wood, I thought trigger too.
It may backfire in the result (I still doubt the maggies will win), but it doesn't affect their double chance.

Silky skills wrote:What do you think the penalty should be for salary (Lofty) cap breaches??? Maybe they should be religated to division two??? Its probably where they be after 3 years at the bottom, when they had no good juniors coming up, no money, NO NOTHING!!! any thoughts guys???

Mate, you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. First of all go back over the last 5 - 10 years and tell me how many years our u14 & u17 didnt make the finals. I do actually beleive that from 2000 to 2005 the u17 played in 4 grand finals and bringing home the bacon on 2 of these ocassions. Isn't it strange how these are the same years that our A grade finished in the bottom part of the ladder. Look how many of those juniors are now playing in our senior sides.

Point 2, No money? I do beleive that excessive amounts of fundraising etc. were done to be able to erect possibly the best football lights outside of Adelaide. Looks like were just benefiting from hard work then, now.

Have a little look at Hahndorfs juniors of late and let us know what you think.

JQ, your right top 5 probably wont change, so the teams can start to get ready for finals in 06. some interesting changes in the lofty camp should make their winning margin less but a win none the less.
lobey v uri i believe will be a cracker of a game lobe were really good against lofty and do deserve a run in sept. but dont know how people can jump off the cabbages, they may have lost to lofty twice this year but they are a super side and should be able to beat a courageous lobe. ( except for that softc*@k sniper schultz).
what ive seen of onkas this year is a real improvement (their coach at the start of the year, stringer, must have been useless) their hard, fast, and with shee up forward are a scary thought, should teach mtbarker a well deserved lesson tomorrow.
and well if blackwood cant beat bridgy with one of their 15 teams going around id be very suprised.

p.s. whos does this silky skillz think he is, probably the main reason hahndorf are out of coin. hasnt anyone in the SANFL realised if u stand one his left hand side he doesnt get the ball..

They're impressive players.. played against some of them and had some good battles.
Ironbank similar situation with many players from 17s playing against those there..
Gareth Williams ( 17s Mail Medal and B+F Favourite)
Scott Walter
Chris Thomas
Will Muirden
Lachlan Keeley
Joel Bawden
Chris Schneider
Chris Naughton
etc...

But like lofty in previous years can have talented young players but also need those eperienced paid players to come in.... Need a good mix... Lofty obviously have it. Not sure what Uris mix is like.

Winger good on you for pointing that out but i think you forget ironbank are bottom and lofty are top. inside50 is saying these boys r local and are finally able to make a difference in senior ranks.... you make a good point about having wise heads to guide them through and i think this is where lofty have been successful. recruited the right mix to help their young stars thru. good luck to ironbank in doing the same. altho im sure we will still smash em

Surely it can't be the bloke that a few people have been insinuating because he claimed to be at a Hahndorf game on the 12th of August and while I think he was injured that particular game I would have thought that he'd still be expected to attend his own club's match.
