After watching the Willunga Victor game I popped in and saw a bit of the match.
Strath were a bit better skilled than Mclaren and went forward quicker and surprisingly longer.
Strath up by about 9 goals, after being up by 2 and a bit at half time

We were a bit dissappointing in the last half Luke. Strath are a very quick side and they are kicking the ball a lot longer than in previous years. They have a lot of shots from a fair way out, where in the past they would have chipped around and over possessed. Not a tall side, however their young kids are working well as a team. Their defence led by Weckert and Kenyon was very good, disciplined and punch forward every time where they get numbers to the ball. Pretty sure i saw Wade Thorpe running around in the 2's

thorpe played in the 2's and was almost impossible to get past at chb, speaking to the boys after the game it was his first game for the year after they thought he was not gonna play at all wont be playing 2's for long i wouldnt have thought, all in all the reserves was good game a real battle of the defences hence such the low scores but the result could have been different with strath getting 2 goals from the umpires, 1 was a clear point and even the strath players agreed and another one cratey (umpire) was blind sided and didnt see a mark was dropped and paid it but thats football!!!

Ah yes....
Is that the one that even the field umpire (Cratey) had a big chat to the goal umpire about.
You're right, the strath boys thought it was a point, even the spectators thought it was a point !

Ah well, never mind O:)

That's an interesting point about the dubious goal umpiring decision. When LC played Strath a couple of weeks ago Strath kicked a point which was called a goal at a vital stage of the third quarter to give them a slender lead.

he was on the wrong side of the goal and couldn't see if it was a point or goal but cratey i believe advised him it might not have been a goal but he was adament it was a goal, but at the end of the day we had opportunities to win the game and didn't it was in the 2nd quarter so it didn't really affect the result as there was plenty of time to get the goal back

The field umpire has the power to overrule the goal umpire so it looks like he wasn't 100% sure

I'm not sure the field umpire completely saw himself, may have just been going by crowd/player reaction from both sides.

Must have been because he wasn't sure himself

Rule 8.2.1 - The field Umpires shall officiate and have full control of a Match

I don't see a need for using a thread such as this to complain and grizzle about umpires.

Get over it and move on!

Good day for the boys yesterday with the u14.5s winning their first game.Senior colts doing it a bit tough at the moment but A DAD is doing it well.B grade got the job done, while the A grade are really getting it together and playing good footy.

While on " Getting it together " seriously doubt The Yetti will be getting it together today.Last seen staggering towards his cave in the hills with bucket in hand !!!!!! Hope Mrs Yetti has a good day :D :D :D :D
If the only reason you play is for a beer with your mates after the game, your playing for the wrong reasons !!

It was really good to see the Junior Colts win.
They are improving each and every week, they really deserved to win
The whole team fought hard and played really well the whole game :-bd

Yes, Senior Colts, although not winning are showing improvement especially the 'babies' of the group,
Good to see that they are 'sticking together' as a team and supporting each other on and off the ground O:)

B grade, great to watch.
Thought young Josh Gentle played really well.
Also thought the runner did a good job :D
I reckon the coach gave him a bit of a workout and that he did more running being the runner than he does during a game !!

Didn't see the A grade (Was supplying food to the hungry hoards :D ),
Great to see them get another win up also O:)

The yetti spent a fair amount of yesterday in his cave up on the ranges just relaxing and sleeping, after a wander around the Onkaparing Gorge with the yetti family.
The Vice Presidents Steak Sandwich Van has added to it's menu. SENSATIONAL BBQ CHICKEN SANDWICHES.
While the night games are great, it was good to see some footy during the day. Good to see most of the Pongy boys pop in for a drink after the game. ( no great surprise there I guess, they always do)

How are the McLaren Boys after winning 3 of the first five?

Looks like a few challenging games coming up against, Compass, Victor, Goolwa and then Langhornes.
