A very good night at Victor Last Night.

Official Business all over by 10.15pm and then some socialising.

Congrats to all award winners.

Some observations:
No Ben Princi on the small Myponga table
No Mitchell on the Encounter Bay table
Mitch Portlock still in his bridesmaid's dress
Goolwa called the saints instead of maggies
Hills and SFL present...maybe Lovelock shield discussions
Nifty Nev loves to talk...It was his moment though
Hamsy polled bugger all votes again
Not many votes for teams that lost...even close games
Strath have a very even team..according to umpire votes
SO MANY IDIOTS
SO FEW BULLETS

Encounter Bay paid the man NO RESPECT, ex AFL & SANFL i believe. No one stood him
ALL day. He got the ball at will 8 touches in the first 19 in the second 13 in the 3rd & 14
in the last 54 in total, and the little things imprested me he proberly had
12 tackles, 6 smoothers & 6 blocks. Hope the rest of the league pay him a little more
attention. They also have a big man up Forward No. 32 Ben McLeod with great
hands - havn't seen hands like it since Stephen Hand who played for Encounter Bay
& Port Elliot in the 90's. Sherwood was also good in the Backlines.
Don't worry about Langhorne Creek they will be there come September!

Well done Signman - Not too many predicted The Winner after Round 1! ;)

Great to see BIG Brad Haskett get so many votes last night, and although they are only umpire votes, it's a great reward for the year he has had, and the effort he has put into the Willunga footy club this year. A massive part of the Willunga side, and when up and running and playing well, it's nearly unfair on the opposition. He is a gun, and for mine the next Willunga captain....

Little mitchy Portlock again, right in the mix at the end of the count. Was mentioned last night, by someone with little or no credibility, that he's the best player in the last decade at Willunga. After giving it some thought, hard to disagree. Would have to be right there for player of the decade in the GSFL too I suppose.... Duff, Steele, Follett, Burdett, Shaun Hutch would all be in the conversation too.

Well done to all the ex-emus too. All really good players and guns off the field. hope most stick around and back up solid years again next year.

WELL DONE BOYS!

just looking back on some recent mail medal counts 2002 - 2007, what happened to Mitch Portlock in the years 2007 (3 votes) and 2003 (1 vote)?? mind you he polled very, very well in the other years!

2007?? might have been the year he trialled with South, played a few games there, before returning to Willunga towards the end of the season.

I don't think they've brought these 'features' across to the new website yet.
Hope they do though, as in past mail medals etc!

Not sure what movies you've been watching Leon, but that's not the type of finger specialist that Benny would be into....

Must of been a pretty nasty injury though, and I'm not convinced the old bull will make it back this year. I didn't see it, but from the amount of screaming and carrying on, together with Ben demanding an ambulance, surely it's worse than the reported "dislocation"

Rumor has it that he was still payed for the match, handed his yellow envelope to the ambulance driver & got change! $-) $-)

Second that TBB,Spat you are a Twat =)) ! I think the sooner posters start ignoring your dribble the sooner you will dwindle on back to your hole and hear nothing else from you (i.e. postman in pre-season). Anybody with some sort of credibility knows that Hilly is good for Mclaren FC and the GSFL and the job he has done this year is exceptional. It seems the only bad reports i hear of him are from typical Morphy bummers that have had their toffy nose put out of shape when they didn't agree with what he was doing.

Mclarens are on the right track. Their improvement over the year was obvious, they played a lot of under 20s and I did notice when they played us (myponga_ Sellicks) at home they had no points players. All local lads.

both eyes clearly open mate. you come on here and 4 out of your first 5 posts (that i know of, as i dont know who those two lads that you mentioned in the christies beach fc thread are) have been neagtive, and all towards Hilly, but somehow i am the childish one?

in my expert opinion, you should be expecting a PM from the mods either telling you.....

a) change you're negative ways or you're outta here.

b) no warnings, just YOU'RE OUTTA HERE!

good luck

To all involved with the myponga-sellicks under age programme well done. After years & years & years of getting smashed to getting both junior teams into the top 5 is the result of many years of hard work & planning. A few things of interest that we have done to turn a club that was on the brink around to having an exciting future. (1) in 20-03 started modi"s (2) in 20-02 changed name to myponga-sellicks, over70% of all our club members (netball football ect) come from north of myponga. (3) door knocked many houses through the sellicks area trying to get kids to play for us. (4) started aus kick through the school. (5) put in a stucture of coaches. We now have good numbers in the 4 junior grades.

:ymapplause: Well done to you Captain and those involved. Future and club culture is definately dependant on those young fellas rising through the ranks and hanging around to play seniors. You guys are on the right track with your teams playing finals. Coming from a Mclaren point of view, the hardest thing is trying to keep these kids on to play seniors, which has been the the reason for a good year down our way, not like in the past. (Much to the demise of Spat the Twat) This is what Hilly has done, he has given the young fellas a go. He has set a precedent, and if some players don't like it they can move on. He has built a good atmosphere around the club and everyone is keen to jump onboard. :D

Good luck to all sides competing in round 1 of finals this weekend (but particularly the Creek teams!).

Hopefully the weather doesn't dampen spirits and we end up with some good tight contests to kick off the final sprint to the 2009 GSFL premiership.

Go the Creeks!
