Thanks WOW for the vote of confidence!! You think the pressure of not winning a colts flag is mounting down at Pongy. We havent won the J/Colts since 67 and now we are 16-0. I am sweating, but I have talked to Simmo and have had some timely advice on "how not to choke"

As for the sentences handed out to players last night. They are absolutely MASSIVE penalties considering that most of the incidents would normally only warrant 5 minutes on the bench. Just going to the tribunal is big in GSFL terms.
You can love football, but it wont always love you back!

D&W has never slandered any individual in the last couple of days, he has merely outlined the incident and suggested what he thought was an appropriate penalty. To get on here and abuse him for this is poor form, and people should get off his back.

For what it's worth D&W, I don't know you from a bar of soap, but I applaud your honesty and I hope you don't cop too much shtick for it this weekend.

As for 'flying the flag', it ain't the 1970's anymore. It's not about protecting your mates, it's about protecting the league and the integrity of the game, and it's about providing a safe environment for everyone to compete in.

In this instance no one has labelled the individual in question with anything. Most people know him or know of him and know that this is out of character for him. Nevertheless the incident happened, and most people have agreed that it deserved some penalty, an opinion also held by GSFL tribunal who acted accordingly. That's it as far as I'm concerned, end of story, and trading abuse isn't going to help the issue at all.

That's my two cents worth.

Now can we move on?

Spot on mate. Do i turn a blind eye because i'm a Willunga fan, and watch this kind of garbage tarnish what is commonly renowned as the 'gentlemens league'.

i was reading the genevse incident in the times this morning? Am i correct in saying that the home team writes the report? The bays when played strath had a rather nasty write up by the strath coach written (apparently the president had to remove most of it), some of it was warranted some was totaly out of line and to be honest although strath belted the bays that day it made them sound like a bunch of soft C%^ks.

It seems that maybe the times is letting a bit to much slip through the editors? If the strath coach has written this where is willunga's side of the story maybe there was a provoke (not saying that retalitaion is acceptable) but all aspects of the incident need to be covered otherwise it is nearly defimation of character??

It seems as though at present strath are the only team willing to write negative stories about other teams and i hope that this is not something that continues into a bitch fest in the local paper.

DOnt get me wrong i am not condoning the Genevse incident but there has to be two sides to a story if it is going to be published in a public paper!

=)) =)) C'mon LF I thought coaches were meant to stick together.
No pressure on the young lads, they'll be right. No doubt you play to win flags but the developement of these kids & hanging on to them to play senior footy is the number one goal.

Is Davenport the skinny older fella that plays in their backlines??? No 13?? surprised he didn't get rubbed out earlier with some of his conduct (or misconduct) over the last couple of years!! if i'm thinking of the wrong bloke ... i apologise!

YEP............ You have the right Guy, he is a loose unit. In 2002 Grand Final in the Northern Areas. He was the SOUTHERN FLINDERS Mascot for the day & dressed up as a TIGER, he was arrested by police before 3/4 Time for various charges (Jamestown/Peterborough WON).
The SOUTHERN FLINDERS FOOTBALL CLUB signed his clearance with - NEVER TO RETURN.
His other brothers DES, JAMIE & HARRY are all loose canons as well!

I would think so Limb, it also cost $$$ to lodge an appeal.

D&W is a very handy player but is one of those players that has alot of soft tissue injuries and should stick to the fairways.

How I see it is...

Maybe figures he has nothing to 'lose' as in 'fighting' for a chance to get it reduced.

If he can try and succeeds to get the 'term' reduced then he has a chance of playing in the GF (If Willunga make it, as we keep saying) ??
If he doesn't succeed, even if an extra sentence is given, I suppose he hasn't 'lost' anything as such as the games will come off minor round games next season.

:-??
