This weeks Sunday Mail gave me a bit of a laugh in the goal kickers "M Bart, E Mucci 2." Classic

I guess the Magpies reckon they're pretty lucky getting 2 recruits that can play for the price of 1.

i remember coaching u/10's with scotty teakle when both him and daz pfeiffer where in the side... we had to pull one of them off at a time to give other players a chance to touch the footy!

hahah darren pfeiffer was an average jnr player thats been overated his whole career

yeah nice call idiot. thats why he went no.18 in the national draft. he didn't look to overrated when he was pretty much SA's best player in the U/18's national carnival.

From a B grade perspective, your boys need a lot of work. The good thing about Mt Lofty's play over the past 5 years is depth. We aren't as strong ijn B grade this year as in the past, but there are still 4 or 5 players pushing for an A grade game each week. Couldn't see too many in Birdwood B's who could step up, which will affect you in the long run when/if injuries occur.
A grade game was a good contest for 3 quarters. Some of your players were hard at it and Friend on the wing carved up the first half. But...games go for 4 quartes, think Birdwood only kicked 2 goals in the second half and only after Lofty were in the lead. Mt Lofty had too much depth. Key Points:
1. Know when to be tough: Mcgahey went around hitting blokes, mostly fair, but did some sniping, which just fired up our boys. Turning point was in the 3rd when NPG rag dolled him and kicked a goal. Also, throwing the ball at the umpire resulting in a free kick isn't the smartest thing to do when your down by a couple.
2. Don't use all your fuel tickets in the first half:As good as Friend was in the first half (2 or 3 running goals) and others, Birdwood looked tired in last quarter.
3. Don't celebrate till the final siren: Because of where the public toilets are located(between home and visitor change rooms), one of our spectators heard a fair bit of talk and back-patting while taking a whiz at half time from the home rooms, while the visitors where listening to the coach and planning for the 2nd half.

A good game, Birdwood will be competitive.

I don't know what's wrong with the Magoos this year. They have a far stronger squad than previous years but just don't seem to be competitive enough. They'll come good but need a swift kick in the backside i reckon.
We do also have a couple out from the weekend, nothing serious though, so it shows a bit of depth, but point is still well taken.

Game was very competitive, think Birdwood will give alot of sides a shake.. do Birdwood have any more on ballers though coz the ones on saturday didnt change all day by the looks of it.. and when they were needed when birdwood were down they were spent and couldnt keep up with Loftys midfield..

you are spot on with that call about NPG tackle... really threw that McGahey bloke round as if he was nothing...

lose by 5 goals to the reigning premiers is a fair turn around from last year... but a loss is still a loss. anyone have a quarter by quarter scoreline?

Saw this Davis kid play against Bridgewater last week and put in a pretty good show. The only real advantage he has at the moment is SIZE! He's bigger, broarder and taller than the other kids, but I don't think he'll put much more on. It's good for now, but once he get's into the senior ranks he's of average size, therefore i think he'll be an average player. If he's not been looked at at the moment ( SANFL ) he's not much chop!

Looking at the scores from the weekend Bridgewater didn't look they won by as much as what I thought they would. Were Lobethal ok or Bridgewater just poor. Will be interesting to see how they go against Mt Barker could be the last chance of a win for some time with the run they have comming up. Must be a little disapointed down at Bridgewater after having such an easy first four weeks to have only two wins. Country Vic you seem to be in the know what is the vibe like at Bridgewater at the moment?

Its clear that Lobethal have improved from last year. Actually, this weeks Lobey team was better than previous weeks with Aufderheide (spell?) back from injury and kicking 6 up forward for the Tigers.

Lobey started well and were leading by 8 gls to 5 gls half way through the second term. Bridgy then kicked 9 goals straight to kill off the game by 3/4 time. Peter Turner kicked 7, with 5 gls in the third quarter.

The feel at Bridgy is better than its been for years (I should know). The new recruits seem like top blokes who attend all club functions. It wont be a quick turnaround, and probably a 2-3 year project before they push the top 3.

This week is a big game. Last year Mt Barker thumped us by 19 gls at home. It wont happen this weekend.

All roses and rainbows in Raider Country at the moment Ballhog, thanks for your concern.
A solid victory on the weekend gives us a 50% strike rate which is a decent start. The 2nds also with 2 wins so things are going along ok.
Definately a tough run coming up which is a challenge but hopefully we can keep a more structured team on the park and and get a bit of a run on. Massive game this week against Mt Barker. Looks like their will be a logjam of teams fighting it out for the finals so every game is crucial.

On another note poor Loby had another recruit injured on the weekend (punctured Lung)and just seem very unlucky at the moment.

Can the club continue to fork out all this money over the next two to three years if Bridgewater don't get a top five spot this season?

Well seeing as it isn't the big leagues were sponsors attach themselves to teams in the hope they make finals which in turn increase the sponsors exposure via media coverage it shouldn't make much difference in the Hills.

Personally I wouldn't have a clue how much money is paid out at Bridgey but i would be comfortable suggesting not nearly as many players are paid as those at clubs that traditionally finish above us. I hate stating things i don't have all the facts on so i will pose a question and hopefully you can help me - how many players would you suggest Lofty pay compared to Bridgewater?
