Agreed his disposal is poor, but he does so some freakish shit in front of the the big sticks considering the kid is only about 5 foot tall.

The others are right any of the good kids that make it are down town. Liam's a big lad and a nice kick but you only have to look at the semi last year when it counted and he had 2 kicks. Time will tell. The other kids that kick goals Tarca from Mt Barker is at CHB and Shearwood is at sturt and he plays centre now. He would have won last years senior colts but missed 11 games. He has clearly been the best forward in junior footy in the hills since young Pistola. Kicks goals in Reps games and finals as well. Should be a good even comp out of 5 fairly even teams. Good luck to them all. How many of those Ironbank kids can actually play 17's now but are'nt ? 5 I think, so don't get too cocksure of yourself splinterman !!!

id say the best forward in junior hills is the one kicking the most goals. you can only compare yourself to what you play against every week, and sure there are tonnes of talented kids from the hills playing down town... but were not talking about them, were talking about the kids playing in the hills every saturday. at the moment, L.Davis is proving tough to beat. any kid who can kick as many goals as he did last year, and is again this year deserves some credit. you might wanna think about triple teaming him on saturday goldenboot.... otherwise the l.davis express is coming your way! ;)

on another note, good to see ex-birdwood junior Sam Sheldon getting his first senior callup for the Brisbane Lions, he's wearing no.3, so big shoes to fill!!
i remember coaching u/10's with scotty teakle when both him and daz pfeiffer where in the side... we had to pull one of them off at a time to give other players a chance to touch the footy!

I dont think people like patty mcswain, fleet, schnieder, work, pistola, thomas and needham dominant in seniors after kicking bundles of goals in u17s. he too is big for the grade and i think he will struggle when he hits seniors with people his own size.
ironbank A grade, the young players are crap. pope is good but to small, o'sullivan is the best of the bunch but the others are just average players, dawkins i think may be ok, but the rest will just be average A graders

So crap footballers will turn into average A Grade players.... any logic to that statement? I suppose you set the world on fire at 17/18 (not forgetting some of these boys still qualify for u17)? With decent coaching these boys will come on in leaps and bounds in next 5 years. See where they are then before you write them off. I'm sure most HFL locals would enjoy playing competitive football with their mates instead of recruits. If only IB bred lads over 6ft.

Silky suggest you concentrate on getting a kick yourself at sturt. You would not know what getting 40 kicks feels like. I was at that game watching our lofty lads last year and he was full of flu and still got 2nd best from memory. Has won 2 flags as far as I know and This kid is 3 years younger than Pistols anyway and plays mid field. They are both very good in their respective age groups and I have seen both the over the years come through. Shearwood kicked 97 goals in 2007 and 83 in 06 to win JC goal kicking as a 13 / 14 year old and would have won SC last year as was leading until taken by sturt. I don't even think he's 16 yet and still has 2 yrs as a snr colt left. I don't think it is good to keep this conversation going. It is pointless - all the kids mentioned are good and hopefully will represent the hills in senior footy in years to come. There are many good kids in the hills we should support them all.

You're not honestly having a go at a bloke for not getting 40 kicks in a game while he is playing League footy are you? Also, something tells me Silky does know what getting 40 kicks feels like, perhaps not at league level but i dont think Russell Ebert got that many either.

good work golden boot, he is a gun, i have no doubt, but his skills are borderline disgusting, and yeh kicking 97 goals in a great effort, but when you get 40 each week up forward you would want atleast that. i support all good juniors.. why isnt shearwood down town? chris brown knows his talent, why doesnt he pick him...

and also to you magpie master, i would put, buzz on pistola.. youve got enough gun midfielders aka cooper kaesler barter, so i would tell buzz to just stay with him all day, dont worry about getting the ball just stop him and u will get BOG, pistol is a goal kicker restrict him to 0 and you win. i would also tell buzz to get into him mentally if ur on top of him early, his head will drop.. doesnt it robby???

Silky my last word. Have checked it out with someone at sturt and young Shearwood is captain of sturt under 16's. Apparantley he played 11 u 17 games last year with Browny as a 15 year old. Believe he is not 16 yet. He did ok too they say. Lets let him go and watch the progress of all our kids including yound L Davis and Pistols in the A's too. Be glad we have them too watch as well as your silky skills. Not a bad effort last week for just over a quarter.

Good to see passionate discussion about hills footy. While we are talking the kids what was the turnout like to the Interleague under 17's and 15's training sessions during the week at Hahndorf and Nairne ? Hopefully all the lads want to participate. Who are the coaches this year ? What are our chances ? I hear the seniors are looking ok if everyone gets involved.

A magnificent team effort by the pies today!! Totally outclassed a team that will struggle to make the 5. I think Birdwood will just sneak in 5th spot with Onkas just missing out.

I disagree Silky as Barta was a little quiet for his lofty standards but surely Roberts was BOG!!! He had a blinder. But very hard to pick best players as they all played well!!
