There were a couple of send offs for both teams, and the ump had his little pen and paper out so I think there was at least 1 report of a LC bloke, not sure who. Met a shepherd fairly crudely with the elbow up, was definitely unecessary contact from what I saw.

On the game, it was quite a contest from about half way through the second term. LC were 13 goals to zip and then the maggies finally clicked, making for pretty much an even scoreboard from that point of the game onwards (about 8 goals a piece from then on?).

At least one of my teams beat the Magpies on the weekend.

Yeah the send offs were a load of rubbish. We video taped the game and the errant elbow makes for interesting viewing it certainly connected but was lucky to not cause any damage. I think the creek player was genuinely disappointed at what he did. The problem is that the creek player gets the same penalty (5 minute send off) for an incident that was probably worth six matches as the 2 players from our team that reminstrated with him. The umpire pays free, yellow cards him, gives 50 and then when questioned why it wasnt a report he says "I didnt see it". More like "I cant be stuffed travelling to Victor on Tuesday" Just for the record there was talk that we would be putting in a formal report about the incident and using the video as evidence but that is not happening. We dont want to be the squealers even though all other 9 nine clubs would probably take us to the cleaners. As for the game Creeks monstered us early. Feast, Hill and Moore set the game up and at one stage we looked like we were not going to score. Watching the replay we actually had as much if not more of the ball as they did after quarter time but they were so efficient. The 3rd quarter was an example of this when we kicked 2-7 to theri 4-1. After playing the 2 contenders in consecutive weeks I am putting Willunga as $1.75 favourites, Creeks $2

Glad to hear the Creek player showed some remorse for his actions, I'd like to think that the Creek lads do their talking with the footy most of the time, don't like to see that sort of stuff. It should've gone to the tribunal though, worth a week or two from what I saw. Interesting that the umpire reckons he didn't see it, he was quick on the whistle when it happened and was johnny on the spot I thought. I reckon you might be right with your 'can't be stuffed driving to Victor' comment their LF.

After seeing it on video it would be a lot more than a week or 2 Ginger. I wouldnt expect anything less from the umpires though, if they had a copy of the game they would be horrified at some of the rubbish they dished up just as I was when I saw myself on tape.

LV, what you do with a videorecorder in your own time is your business. You might want to tape over it before showing to the rest of the boys at the club though, particularly if your performance is rubbish as you say. ;)

Back to the topic of umpiring though, I reckon that of the games I have seen get out of hand this year, frustration at the umpiring has a lot to do with it.

We watched it yesterday and it has now been wiped from the history books. Disgusting, but the sad thing is I wasnt the worst and the Creek boys are not exempt from some rubbish either. Its worth doing though there are plenty of things that you do on the field that you dont realise your doing.

Speaking of umpiring....

We had an umpire give a 50 metre penalty on Saturday in the B grade for something a spectator yelled out
Has anyone seen that before??

From what I hear (So may or may not be the case), this is a common occurance/rule in the RMFL?

I wasn't actually refering to the videotape of the game, your previous comment made it sound like you were perhaps referring to some other recreational activities you might choose to videotape. Don't mind me, my poor attempt a humour. I'll stick to my day job.

Yea, every team gets a bit loose occasionally. If I was out there I'm pretty sure I'd catch a case of 'white line fever' every now and then too. I get pretty close just from the boundary sometimes.

I'm not sure if its a regular occurrence in the RMFL, A Mum, but there was one particular incident last year when the father of one of the players "caused" a 50 metres to be given against his team, although as it turned out it wasn't the spectator who the umpire presumed it was.

There is now a rule that supporters/spectators can be reported for abuse towards umpires, but from what i've heard this rule hasn't been used.

Thanks for that GWW.

Some of the 'lads' that were sitting next to me on the weekend thought it was a rule in the RMFL.
So they weren't far wrong.

The Strath/Willunga incident was retaliation and is unfortunate that such an injury happened as a result.

Retaliation for what??? I was 15m away and there was no reason for the hit.
Both players on the ground after a contest, the ball was 50m away and as both players got up, the Willunga player clocked him. There was no retaliation, the Strath player didn't see it coming because he hadn't done anything untoward. There was no sly punch on the ground, he didn't even grab his jumper as he got up. I'm a Willunga supporter, so there's no bias here.

After the recent talk on here comparing the GSFL to SFL and how much cleaner the GSFL is with none of this rubbish going on this happens, will we see weeks given or worst case legal action looked at??

Should be taken to the cleaners.
Did nothing wrong and now he is out for the year, and Strath are without a key player heading into the finals.

As i stated, it was an unfortunate end result but it was retaliation i was close enough to see the incident also. Not trying to say what happened was ok, but it was not an unprovoked act.

Ha Ha, that video was never supposed to see the cold light of day, but that was a case of "footy trip fever" which is the end of year equivilant of "white line fever"

Bottom line is blatant violence is never the answer, deciding whether it was provoked or unprovoked is splitting hairs (which is what I think you're trying to get at D&W).

Thuggery in footy is my pet hate.

I hope the appropriate penalty is handed out for this incident, sounds like it was a particularly nasty one.

Your right, provoked or unprovoked it was still disgusting and should be made an example of by the league.
