Played all his junior footy with the devils. Got BOG in the 2007 u17 grand final. Played his first senior year in the b grade last year.

Abernethy has come up through the senior colts at Lofty. Played B's last year and has had a solid preseason on the track and in trials and has justly been rewarded. He is now holding his own in the A grade. The kid would be lucky to be 19, he will be a very solid player for the devs in the years to come. He joins players like B Pistola, Paechy, Weeksy, Buckets Nielson and Daniel Bird among others who are now strong A grade perfomers and were senior colts two or three years ago (Josh Radbone will be added to that list when his body is right no doubt).

In regards to Wardy, it will be tough for him to snag a spot as Mt Lofty's A grade depth is in on-ballers and running backmen, and he tends to play his best footy in those possies. In saying that, the policy at Lofty (as with most clubs) is that good consistent performances get rewarded with a call up, so he is certainly doing all he can at the moment to get rewarded.

The informer wrote:Will be a big weekend of footy, with Anzac always bring something special to the footy. Also looking like being terrible weather which will be a factor also.

Anyways, my tips are...

Mt Lofty vs Ironbank - Seems the thunderers are struggling a bit this year, and this week probably won't help their cause. Having said that the gap between 1st and last this year is far smaller than in years gone by (not saying either team is 1st or last) but Mt Lofty should win but about 6 goals in a low scoring game due to weather

Birdwood vs Bridgewater - I was all excited about getting our trip down to Bridgewater out of the way early before the wet comes, and then it decides to bucket down! Oh well... Will be a great game I think, with both teams having a good week and riding a wave of confidence. I think we should get up by about 4 - 5 goals.

Hahndorf vs Lobethal - Hahndorf game plan, give ball to Bartemucci and let him score a goal! This guy is a great player, and kicks many goals. Seems like the kind of player who'll dominate in the wet as well. My tip for Mail Medal (if one of our lads doesn't sneak in). I'd say Hahndorf by 14 goals.

Uraidla vs Mt Barker - Haven't seen the Barkers yet this year, but I believe Uraidla are going to have a great year. I'd say U's by 5 goals

Blackwood vs Onkas - haven't seen either team yet, but going on form and word around town I'll go Blackwood by 2 goals. Onkas will be better than people have mentioned... getting that close to Mt Lofty will tell that to anyone but I still think the woods will have too much quality.

Scores will probably be quite low this week, but hey, that's wet weather footy.

Scores should be low, a few years ago torrens valley were killing Milang in the wet, twenty goals or something at half time in horrible conditions wet windy hail, Milang refused to come back out after the break. so big scores can happen. hahahaha

I remember that! Good old Milang. Nearly as good as the story I heard of Callington conceding behinds to waste time while they were getting a pasting by TV! Genius!

how many people are to be expected at bridge water this week with the weather and all?

It will be good to see how both clubs have been going with the highly talked about recruits - Im more concerned about how the second tier group performs and more important if they have improved -

no wonder the guy cant get a kick she is in his back pocket all day. she tags closer than matty bomb francis. D Bennett has called it a day from Mt Lofty Football Club and has embarked on his illustrious playing career for the national volleyball league.respect him for this though he has a mean dig, set, spike. and spike again for everyone playing at home.

Alex robbo needs to give it a break, because if he keeps playing the way he does all hell will break loose!!... More grabs than Carey in his hay day!!Daniel Hughes is more washed than the atlantic beachfront. Played his first and last As game last week... Jono Weydling is so starving and is expected to run a muk anyware back, or forward. Although he is more than likely to make his debut in the Bs this week after the inclusion of an Ex" SANFL port player....Daryle Poole... he is likely to take the back pocket duties... poole will be severely missed from the port reserves as his hair is longer than the alphabet. no longer than dion wrights medical history at the bridgewater changerooms...he is washed. go the raiders

. james 'bone' smart looked lively off the wing last sat at the kennel and is expected to be dropped to the c's this sunday..reports are that he is flying on the track and will probably take his brothers spot on the team as his disposal has been commented as... 'not able to hit sand if he fell off a camel'... poodle furber has been tearing up fifa 86' and is looking to tear lofty a new one at subway stadium... he reportedly plays devastating footy under lights and with the anzac spirit in the air who knows what this young lad is capable of.

i think you'll find that abernethy played some colts footy at hahndorf... massive loss to the club even back in the vintage i could tell this young lad was destined for great thing. his name has been mentioned in the same sentence as sheeba, russell and de vries. the kid can play the hole.

Mt Lofty 17-11 d Ironbank 6-6
B. Pistola 6, B. Gordon 2.
Devils kicked 7 to 1 in first term and then virtually cruised along. Young Thunderers didn't throw in the towel but Mt Lofty just too talented, too slick and too good in the night conditions.

blackwood by 4-5 goals onkas up at half time then the game changed and blackwood where great in the last term kicking 5 goals to 1 close game up to that stage blackwood just a bit more polished in the end. Onkas where a bit unlucky with a couple of players pulling out before the game but like i said blackwood to good on the night and it was a good win in the end
