From what i hear Goolwa/Pt Elliot have a pretty young and inexperianced side, with not many players having tasted any success in senior grades. Wilson i think has 2 A grade premierships,White has 1 SANFL premiership and Zac would have at least 4 flags but you cant possibly expect 3 or 4 players to beat a great team. What did you expect the magpies to do last weekend shoeboy??? coming up a against a much superia side in Willunga!!!

Shouldnt you be worrying about your own backyard, after a loss to Christies Beach?? Do we need to post your performances against the top clubs this year?
Noarlunga has paid players does it not? And you are no certainty to make the top 8, let alone the top 5. The only way your club has achieved success in recent times is by recruiting from other clubs, so its probably no surprise you expect recruiting to equal success.

Well said Dutchman and Killa.

I suggest that the Shoeboy keeps his comments to himself until Noarlunga are in the top 5 and stop paying their players.

It's the top 8 for them, and they won't even make that!

What would be the average spend for the year on teams paid players in country SA? Even if our 4 players were getting $500 (which they definately are not), that is only $36,000 for the year. surely that would be a reasonably small budget?

Now you've turned the spotlight on your club Shoeboy.
Here are the facts:
- you have paid players (nothing unusual for the $hoes in an attempt for success)
- your performance this year has been well under par
- your performance against top clubs has been poor (need i remind you of some scores?)
- you are struggling to make the top 8 (only top 5 in GSFL)
These were your criticism's of Goolwa/Pt Elliot. I dont think you have anywhere to turn

Its all relative to what dollars your club generates as well. I would imagine (without divulging confidential figures) that most clubs in the GSFL would cover $40,000 through sponsorship with ease. In fact some clubs would probably cover that 3 or 4 fold. I dont see that spending money that you have is an issue. There is no salary cap.

Your kidding LF, Stephen White is on big money, otherwise he would have gone back to his home club in the RMFL, I know everyone pays money to gun recriuts but dont try and make out they are playing for the love of your club, same with Zac , who would have been offered big money everywhere, the guys a gun

Stephen White has a link through Simon Dennis because of previous dealings at Sturt, plus you need to take in to factors like employment etc as to why people go to certain clubs, so i think you will find that he is not on a packet. I can tell you right now that we have and will continue to pay players it has to be done to an extent, but people get on here and portary us as the big spenders in SA. Not the case...we wouldnt come close to a lot of clubs.

Im not knocking you for paying players good money but be careful when you start putting figures in print because very few footballers can keep it quiet , there are people out there that know what they are getting and you can be made to look pretty silly.

Fair call and i am sure that some would know, but i also know that if I surveyed 100 people and asked what their taxable income was for the last year about 95 would exaggerate it.

Every club pays players!!!!!!! This topic gets done to death and anyone who criticises another club is a hypocrit!!!!!!! Most of the criticism is jealousy. Run your club well and you will attract and keep players (both juniors and outside). Well done to those clubs who work hard, are successful off field and run their club as a business. Lets move on shall we? And no, i am not from Willunga. They are successful and that's all that matters!

Well some very touchy people and clubs with such an innocent question on a footy forum.

As a keen follower of the GSFL and watch as many games as I can when our programming permits am surprised at P/Goolwa position at YTD! I also have an interest in their results as we spoke to players that where touted by Goolwa and ourselves and consistently the coin that Goolwa was prepared to pay we were not.

We have now and in the past paid players and do not hide this fact as All clubs do.

We know were we are as a footy club and will continue to improve as all new recruits and potential recruits that we have spoken with were informed that we are a very young squad and their involvment was to help develop this young group.

We know we are not top 4 in the SFL and believe 5-8 is where we are at and with 3 games to come have this as a goal!

So I apologise if I have touched a nerve but must agree it opened good debate even if some where crap and untrue?

DUTCHMAN who are you alligned to???? as you are a betting man I bet your full of crap!
LUNCHBOX 30% more than M/Vale are you serious, remember it is a small world and as healthy as our accounts are YOURS are not???

I've provided the facts, the forum will decide who is full of crap.
This discussion should be saved for the SFL forum, but the cliche of having a young and up and coming team has got to stop somewhere when you consistently under-perform. Everyone else knows where you are as a footy club as well...languishing at the bottom of the 8!
If you really want to have a bet, i bet you wont win a flag in the next 5 years 8)

We are suprised as well Shoeboy. After winning 4 games combined in 2007 / 2008 which included winning the dreaded spoon twice, 6-9 (with wins against Strath and Compass) is a better effort. Enough of us though, surely the clubs playing in the finals should hot topics from here on in?
