Walkies had decent depth and were not far off the GF this year. Mates who used to play for Mypo reckon its about div 4 standard in the RMFL so they should go alright. The one player I got told had signed with Mannum is about 6 foot 4 and a leading foward but needs delivery.

sounds like what mannum need.
who are your mates from mypo?

RMFL has dropped off the pace in recent times, division 4/5 standard currently. Further proven with massive loses in Association Footy but I make assumptions after having been involved in the league and by the word I get from my contacts still inside the league - point is I am not bagging.
Walkerville had a good list and the players leaving will be missed and will make an impact on the league, which is what it needs.

Top sides would be higher than div 4/5 in RMFL. Its hard to judge association form when a lot of selected players dont choose to play.

yeah i would have thought the RMFL would be a bit higher than div 4 or 5.
i agree with you dutchy, the top couple of teams would mix it a lot more than the ones further down the ladder
the assoc games are hard to make judgements on as the majority playing are under 25 (and 5 players 25+),
and the majority of the good players dont even play ...

The standard of the bottom few teams probably has, but the top teams would be quite competitive against the leading GSFL clubs.

GWW are you saying that Jervois and Imps would be on par with Langhornes and Willunga?

I said "competitive", they probably wouldn't beat them but they wouldn't be completely outclassed either.

Knowing a few of the top players from both of those clubs in the river murray i agree.

I dont know what the depth is like at these clubs but the better players would certainly play A grade at either club (Langhornes or Willunga).

Yeah both clubs have had some high quality players over last 4 or 5 years. If they played in the GSFL last year I'd say they both would have made the top 5. But yeah, depth probably not up there with the GSFL sides, probably Willunga in particular.

Good discussion here, glad GWW you havent taken it like we were bagging the RMFL.

I think that Jervois and Imps would go well in the GSFL, in 07 the GSFL was a very even comp (beside the Creeks) with Willunga coming good mid-season.

How far off the pace did you perceive teams 3, 4 and 5 were in 07? Ramblers looked good it parts I thought, Mypo were not a real contender.

Ramblers seemed to have the talent, but not the desire
mypo had key fwds but lacked gun onballers to deliver it to them

i think the top half a dozen players in these teams would mix it no worries in GSFL, but the bottom couple would be pretty poor in comparison. most of them had players either selected or playing in zone footy the past few years (ramblers, mypo, mannum) but there is not a lot of depth around those players. not compared the likes of jervois anyway

nah i think they werent coached good enough (obviously only the games they played against my team.). Going defensive, playing a mail medalist out of position is what ruined their finals dreams.

They have the players the skill and the fitness!

Who you referring to there Hills - Mail Medallist out of positon? Morris, Marchetti or Zadow?

Its interesting why Ramblers haven't been able to make a GF in last 2 years, they've had the side on paper, but haven't been able to peform in the big finals. If they lose a few from this year, will make it harder for them in 08 given they'll be restricted by the points system.

It's interesting to see how people perceive the quality of the RMFL and to what level they compare to in the SAAFL. People have said they are of Div 4 or 5 quality, yet comparing them to div 4 or 5 you would think that with the money country clubs offer (from all reports...) and the names and leagues players have come from one would think that the quality would surely be higher than div 4 or 5 in the SAAFL???
The only time i've ever been wrong...was when I thought I was wrong!!!
