Captain from an insider it seemed like common sense for those 2 to get on board and we certainly did and still do want them to play footy back at Goolwa. I am sure they will be met with at the end of the year. I think it came down to the fact that there was some big money for them out there (even more than they were on at Victor) and they are young guys who probably would find the money quite attractive. We couldnt pay them because then we'd be obliged to pay everyone. You have to draw the line somewhere. Having said that we might need to come up with a payment scheme for some of these young guys.

Very well said, I believe McLarens have such a scheme. We at the mudlarks do"nt. Surely local players would have an idea on how hard it is for clubs to raise the money needed and still stay afloat.

at the bay all a grade players get 25 bucks for a game. but only a grade. obviously paid players get there $$$ but the locals all get 25. if you haven't paid your subs then the 25 comes off your subs and you get a receipt instead. i think the system works well because it means that home games everyone stays around and has a meal and a few beers putting at least their 25 back over the bar.

Magpies got up by 2 goals in knee deep mud at Pongy! Pongy had a few chances in the last coming home with the breeze but in the conditions a 15 metre set shot was no certainty. South Adelaide showed why they lack support from their feeder clubs today by disallowing Ben Yeomans to play for us (loss of points if he did). Is in the contracted / best 35 at SA but cant get a game in either the league or reserves so he has told them he's playing for us. Wasnt allowed to, so a promosing 18 year old kid becomes our A Grade runner. Wouldnt think that would be best for his football?

Thnaks for the "hot tip" from greyhound trainer S.Laffin mid way through the 3rd quarter. I am on board!!!

I've been reading about that on the SFL forum. And by the sounds of it, much like you, we are not enticing or forcing Ben back but he wants to play football.

Strath wings were in almost perfect condition but the centre of the ground was un playable and the umpires requested another circle be drawn on the other side, with good reason in my mind! There was no way in hell you could jump of that pitch!

not sure where you got this from chocolate, i never even seen anyone come off with what looked like a broken arm. you would think it was deliberate like you say, then there may have been a hook thrown with the unbroken arm.

Well, typical. Why stop these young guys having a game. They continue to keep treating local clubs like crap but more importantly their players. These young fellas will end up telling South to stick it.Their Centre of Excellence for their u18s is known better in the local leagues as The Centre of Mediocrity.Wake up South and listen to your players and local clubs its about them to not all about YOU !!!!

Yanks southern end and club wing to centre of square was mud hole, but outer wing and northern end looked fine! Alot of rain fell there just before B grade ran out.

A player of ours does have a broken arm. Had a pin inserted into it yesterday and hopefully out of hospital today!

The 2 players were running for the ball when Mitchell (in front) grabbed Bruisers arm and dragged them both down trying to get a free kick for holding. However when they landed they both twisted and the result was a snap in Bruisers arm. Disappointing for Bruce but hopefully he can be back and our bad run of broken bones has come to an end with 3 in 3 weeks to Guitink, Garrett and now Bruiser!

Great round of footy, Compass definitely a challenger for the flag, 2 close ones with the games being low scoring tight affairs and Langhornes evening the score on Strath after their Rd 3 encounter.

We beat the Bays in a workmanlike effort. Very windy conditions at E Bay but it sounds like we got the best of the conditions with only a few boggy spots on the oval. Very good games from Cooper on his wing, Bennett across Full Back and Centre Half Back and Wes Glass popping up kicking 6 up forward!

haha no but the ruckmen have to have some oppotunity to leave the ground! Plus the proper centre circle wasnt at all visible by the end of the B grade.

The Turf cricket pitches at Strath and L.Creek certainly are a bit of a problem when wet and muddy but the biggest concern i have is that the grounstaff move the centre circle off the pitch area but dont adjust the square resulting in the wingmen on one side of the square being only about 10 m from the centre throw ups whilst on the other side they are about 40 m away. Same for both sides i suppose.
End of the day, if Football wants to use Turf pitch CRICKET ovals to play their game on then they have to put up with the conditions (wet and muddy or dry and hard) ;)
