He is listed in the injury in the adverstiser as 10 weeks and is on contract so will be maybe a starter next season but it is going to cost big $$$$ He is a good footballer tremendous mark and a great kick on him.

so explain to me in regards to the point system-ilecjsen signs with say vh this year as a 4 point player, doesnt play at vh at all this year but next year decides to play with vh all year,is he then a 3 point player next season.

that is correct.

The ability is there z-mac. Just need to apply it consistently.
What's with Justin Smith in 1's? and up forward?

I think you'll find that 'young' 'inexperienced' sides do play inconsistent footy ... guys to state a player and questioning why he's in the side is a little harsh i think (or maybe i've miss interpreted that statement)! i would guarantee that other than the top 2 maybe 3 sides in the GSFL the rest would have players that are fringe a graders in their side ... never the less they still put their hand up to play when asked by the a grade selection committee ... i say well done to them!! It's much better than players that are more than capable a graders who refuse to play a's cause it's "too hard" "just wanna play with me mates" or some other piss weak excuses (other than I'm too old for a's! :D ) etc!

I personally would pat the back of the likes of "j. smith's" for presenting themselves for the late game on a saturday!

the whole club had many missing players due to comitments and injuries! the B grade had to bring up 5 senoiur colts to fill a team. thats why justo had the opportunity to back come up, did a good job!

If you're old then so am I!

I think it's fantastic that Justo stepped up into the 1's and kicked a couple. gives other backmen hope!

I'm too old also. What joy does anyone get from knocking a bloke that gets an opportunity in the A grade. Smith got a chance to play a higher grade, he took it, did what he was required by the coach on the day. End of story. Well done. If he plays A grade again, good on him, if he doesn't then go back to the B grade and bust your ass for that team. That's footy.....
PS- Hi Stan. Still don't know if I've been registered yet. I'm cleared to the League but in limbo at the moment..........
Has anyone seen Sammy G, the KING of Teringie.

i think the whole a grade, b grade and which to play is an issue at every club...they're not always pathetic excuses either - i know at goolwa that those 'fringe' players that dont wanna play a's may be because players are playing footy just for the fitness and sure the 'excuses' of being able to play with best mates, drink a few brews after the game and still been able to get behind your club in the a's are definately a bonus  also goolwa's bench in the a grade is basically not used unless a player wants to come off or is injured - why play 1 or 2 quarters in the a's if you can have a full game in the b's if your playing for the fitness...i know a lot of the fringe players (some are quality a grade players as well) would be more then happy to stick their hand up and play a's...

i know everyone has their own opinion and they all differ so i think clubs just need to sit down with players and discuss what the club wants out of the players and also what the players want to get out of footy from playing footy for their local club...

we have had the mighty John Jarrad (haha) training out at the bays with us last couple of weeks, apparently his clearance has been refused due to it being past the June 30 Deadline. I remember Goolwa recruiting someone for work reasons after June 30, is there a clause in the rules for players to be cleared after June 30 for work reasons.

Its not a massive Drama, i mean johnny would be handy but we all know his reputation but would still would be good to have at the club for a bit of a laugh on sat night, anyone know about this clause?

Round 12 July 11th
Yankalilla V McLaren
Strathalbyn V Langhorne Ck
Myponga/Sellicks V Goolwa Lf to do a hammy tonight cause he knows how cold & wet it will be at pongy on saturday.
Mt Compass Victor
Encounter Bay V Willunga

From an outsider looking in at the Gsfl, has a bit of the sting gone out of the 09 season now that the top 5 is most likely set, Hams will win the goal kicking, Portlock to be runner up in the mail medal lol...?
I've heard crowds are up but is it a bit like 2 comps within 1 since Goolwas dropped off? Bottom 5 vs each other, Top 5 vs each other, my comments are not intended to be disrespectful to anyone, just wondering what people think?

WOW is alive!!! I think it is a battle of 2 halves, but within the top 5 there will be some good battles and i dont know what the top 5 clubs thoughts are, but i am sure they wouldnt be underestimating the others. could still be upsets on the cards. Cuzzy I dont know if we have ever cleared someone after June 30, but if we ever did it must have been a common sense decision. If someone moves state for instance surely they cant be excluded from a footy comp?

Too right, there's no pong in Myponga oval these days, one of the best in the league. Done some great work down there.

I wouldnt have thought the sting has gone out of it at all WoW. I think the week off last week has in the past seen pests like Footymad come along and fill the pages with utter crap but without the man around weve not been subjected to it!

This week sees Compass play Victor in a massive game for both clubs along with Strath and Langhornes. One of Compass and Victor will probably miss their opportunity at a double chance whoever drops this game and if Strath can knock the Creeks off like the did earlier in the season it keep them right in the hunt for that top spot and the week off come finals. The bottom 5 sides are still no easybeats! The fact remains they are not out of the finals hunt and even if they are they can still have a bearing on what sides finish where!

Raining heavily this morning L.F. and with more rain today and tomorrow the oval will be tested. The oval will bog if it continues to rain. From an outsider it seemed common sense for Jurek and McKinlay to return to Goolwa, being local lads, 0 point players, Denes dad heavily involved in the club and the club seems to be going forward. Any reasons L.F. why what should have occured has"nt.

A heavy track out at Myponga will severly hinder my explosive "out of the blocks" pace, hopefully I can make use of my ground level skills. Captain from an insider it seemed like common sense for those 2 to get on board and we certainly did and still do want them to play footy back at Goolwa. I am sure they will be met with at the end of the year. I think it came down to the fact that there was some big money for them out there (even more than they were on at Victor) and they are young guys who probably would find the money quite attractive. We couldnt pay them because then we'd be obliged to pay everyone. You have to draw the line somewhere. Having said that we might need to come up with a payment scheme for some of these young guys.

Very well said, I believe McLarens have such a scheme. We at the mudlarks do"nt. Surely local players would have an idea on how hard it is for clubs to raise the money needed and still stay afloat.

Its an unwritten law at Pongy if you played colts for the club dont even consider asking for ca$h to play & if you have a problem with it see Baz Clarke. They will help out with petrol money for the guys travelling from the city. I think there local coaches of the past were on the same deal... ya pay peanuts ya get monkeys
