There are still a couple of teams with a glimmer of hope to get in to the 5, but the next 3 weeks will settle it once and for all. Once the 5 is set in concrete do we see McLarens and Goolwa / Port Elliot "tanking" to get the 7th spot and 3 extra player points for 2010?

points arent a concern for us i think we only have 1 player worth 3 points, which would still leave room to recruit 3 or 4 players next year anyway

Goolwa are the same only using minimum points each week, the point is you may still have room for another 3 or 4 this year but next year you may be able to get a new 4 or 5 players and lift the whole group and become a side pushing for a top 3 spot. That 1 extra player from 6th to 7th spot I would think is very valuable if funds are avaliable.

Compass seem to be the real deal now. Wins against Langhorne creek and Willunga put them right up there as a premiership contender. Will be interesting to see how they go against victor this week.

cuzzy wrote:haha so the drama's go on at maclaren again for the bays. Vision will love this! can someone from Mclaren tell me who that 7foot d&^K head in the black trench coat who seems to enter the ground and cause trouble every time we play there is? He apparently is on the Mclaren Committe and attends the delegates meetings? He should be banned from the league, ground and returned to his nutjob home. no spectator should be allowed to enter a venue argue with opposition players, coaches and umpires (especially after consuming alcohol all day) before the players have even left the ground. There is a safety issue at Mclaren vale with spectators getting to close to players as they leave the ground and also the home and opposition change rooms being joined to the same race is crap.

I can safely say if this was happening at the bays this guy would be banished from the club?? what does everyone else think?

Credit to some of the younger kids though at Mclaren Vale atleast some of them didnt get caught up in the bitching and winging like most of their teams mates and played some good footy.

I was standing near the big bloke all day - met him on Saturday for the first time. I was talking to him in the 2nd quarter and he said he had to walk the umpires off and on. Did the same thing after the game.

I watched him as all of the after match shenanigans were going on - he was talking with the umpires and having a laugh with them. I didn't see him having a go at anyone. After the match, I was in the clubrooms and he introduced me to the EB Coach.

He was vocal but so were most of the blokes there. Not sure why you are having a go at him because I didn't see anything untoward.

PS: I barrack for Yankalilla not MV. I just thought the MV v EB match would be better (I was right!!)

Z Mac id rethink your statement there. I said the 21 we put out should have got the job done but close to full strength i think not.

With this weeks zone carnival in Pt Pirie will clubs be having a get together at some stage over the weekend, maybe a paintball day or a session down the pub? Willunga are opening the clubrooms and watching the Pies v Essendon clash Friday night.

Good luck to the lads playing in the country championships, its a great effort to make such a team, but why does the GSFL seem to be the only league having a bye? There are 1260 players from moddies to A Grade that play footy on a saturday do we need a week off to cater for 4 or 5 players? After the association bye i would rather continue on.

yeah i agree good luck to the boys who are playing it is definitely a very good achievement to make the team(despite my previous jibe about the bloke in the blue guernsey), i dont really think there is a need for a bye the players would still have to play in cc team as the league could make the rule if you dont play cc you dont play at all, but in saying that i do see why they have it as why should a side be at a disadvantage, because they have best players in the league and the break has come at a perfect time for us as we have been struggling with injuries etc the last 2 weeks and after the break we should see a few return

1 or 2 losses hardly mean the wheels are falling off. Obviously the 'extremely average outfit' as you call them, played well. They have now beaten both Langhorne Creek and Willunga who are sitting 1st and 2nd so they can't be that bad!!! Granted, they are a little inconsistent but at their best they will beat anybody! Ryan Creek - BOG in a win against the top side? must have some ability!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

will accept they have some ability, and as a unit they are good enough to beat all teams. but that kind of inconsistency will only get you so far, especially come september.

Full strength side would bring in Genovese, Guitink, Williamson, Huizink, Groom and Paterson. There are a few others who are around the mark also but these 6 when fit and available will play A grade.

Mutley this does not mean the side we had shouldnt have won the game. However 'shock horror' :-o Willunga lost a match. It happens and thats footy. The comp is fairly wide open, ive been saying it all year and its true, I believe that any of those top 5 sides on their day could beat any other side. GSFL is very healthy at the minute.

To answer the Ryan Creek comment he was very good and deserved his BOG.
