How do you reckon you guys will go against the BL&G this year? Where is the game any way?

AFL = add 5 pts (total 6 points)
SANFL = add 4
Reserves = add 3
U19's = add 2
Amateur Div 1 = add 3
Amateur div 2-4 = add 1
Affliated League = add 1
Another Hills club = add 2

Then after the first year, each year they stay at the club, they reduce by 1 point until they are down to 1 point.

Cheers, mate.

clearly the way to improve your squad is to recruit high quality players from affiliated leagues. they only cost you 1 point.

seems strange that you can recruit (say) an a-grade VFL footballer for 1 point, but a SANFL reserves player costs 4.

You also need to be smart with your recruiting. Take Hahndorf for example who recruited 3 SANFL footballers last season in Cooper, Kaesler and Bishop. Didn't cost them any points (I believe) because they had all played juniors or previously with the club.

Game is at Hahndorf. Depends on whether the HFL brings in a rule to make it compulsory to play. If not, who knows. If they do, Hills will be super competitive.

There are a few other avenues that we are exploring for 2009 but we realise that time is against us. Very disappointing given that we have 25+ blokes predominately from the Lenswood area who aren’t playing footy anywhere else this winter that are keen to have a run in the Cs.

Sounds like the callington senario when they started..soon after they raided every others clubs players. I hope this is not the case!!!

Fair suck of the sav bf! Cally didn't 'raid'. Nearly all those players strolled over of their own accord because they weren't happy where they were. (Oh for those good old days though!).
Older, wiser and been there. But still love that grassroots country footy.

went down by about 8 points. Dominated play all day but couldn't capitalize.
Looking forward to the first hit out this week... should be a interesting year.

Went along to the Bridgy vs Echunga trial on Saturday (to watch a mates lad play in the B's).

B grade was a big Bridgy win (12 plus goals). Interesting to see both Feijen bros playing for Raiders. Both did well.

A grade game was scrappy. Echunga won by 8 points. Both teams has patches of domination.

Echunga looked very good. Some very quick midfielders (sorry don't know names) and kicked 7 unanswered goals in the 3rd quarter, turning a 3 goal deficit into a 4 goal lead at 3/4 time. Bridgy had the best of the last quarter, but run out of time.

As an Onkas supporter was frustrating to see DeVries playing for Bridgy. He looked very good at times. Eckermann played but was quiet. Again, didn't know some of the other Bridgy players.

In summary, Echunga were very impressive, Bridgy look they need more time to gel.

I'll be back at Bridgy this Saturday. I think Onkas will cover them OK.

I actually though Eckermann was very good having had one training session (Thursday night) all pre season then backing up to play. He gave rebound and took some good grabs helping out the other defenders.
Bigger grounds will suit the Raiders style alot better.

Echunga definately had some pacy onballers and flanks though, well done to them, they were very keen and excited to get the win.

geez, it's a shame that bigger grounds will suit the raiders style when their oval is about the size of a 10 cent piece.

saw the game for bird wood. Think they played unley. In patches birdwood looked really smart and used the ball very well and damagingly quick. Other times they looked to be trialling passages of play and got a little lost, but controlled majority of the game. Gave away abot 9 fifties which resulted in about 4 goal for opposition

Raiders will no doubt come good. How are ironbank and lobie looking ? Believe Gaz Campbell is giving all the kids a crack from last years senior colts premiership side. They will obviously struggle but surely headed in the right direction.

Lofty played strath on the weekend, and it looked liked it was going to be a nothing contest, the first 10 minutes was tough then Lofty controlled the game with their run and quick movement, with a big lead at half time. To Straths credit they came back and out scored lofty in thrid quarter, then in the last Lofty came back and controlled the game to win by 6 goals. only downfall to Lofty was their goal kicking 20 18 i think they kicked so the win coulda of been way more. Its good to see a bit of discipline in local teams with a few of Lofty's A graders playing B's for not training and might continue into round 1. Well done strath for the night i know they were undermanned aswell, good and nice looking oval too.
