Was it Eckerman that got absolutely pole-axed against North Melbourne in one of his first couple of games, or even debut? If my memeory serves me correctly he is and he didn't play a great deal of senior footy (AFL or SANFL) after that. I could well be wrong and welcome any clarification if I am.

I believe you are correct danger, i remember that hit. it is no wonder he did not play much after that, it was a big welcome to the big league and i presume lost a lot confidence after that.

Actually i think it was against West Coast that Eckermann was injured, he was crudely bumped by Stengelein. I think Eckermann's debut was against North Melb, he showed a bit of promise, but was never the same after the game against the WCE.

He would be handy in the Hills if he has indeed signed.

From what I read in the local rag, the sanfl guys were reserves players, so they will come with points, but not huge numbers. The other recruits like Flinn were Bridgy players returning to the club (so they carry no points).

The thing that will probably save them is that they had no carryover points from last year.

12pts - for the 4 from SANFL (3pts each? not sure how many pts they attract for playing ressies)
1pt - for B Ladlams (1pt if he plays)
0pts - for Flinn & Lancaster (past locals) & J Roberts (who i believe was registered last year & therefore is now classifield as a local)

that puts them on 34pts. not sure if i've missed anyone or whether the pts i've allocated are correct but it's a starting point.

Any truth that Lenswood are going to reform and join the Hills 'C' grade comp? What colours were they before they merged? Green and White?

Started as a bit of hot air talk after our cricket GF win last week, but momentum has grown..

There is a meeting this week to decide where it's headed. Apparently the HFL will accomodate other towns entering a team in the C grade, as Lenswood currently isn't the only one considering it from what I've been told.

Negotiation would have to talk place with Uraidla I'd imagine, as Lenswood is tied to that club through Eastern Rangers.

Would be great to see the red and greens running around again. I'm still not 100% certain it will/can happen, but we'll see....

Had a meeting last night in regards to this. As expected Uraidla FC have put a spanner in the works, preventing us from forming a “Lenswood FC” as they claim they have the rights to the name. (technically they have “Lenswood Ranges FC”). All the clubs voted against us entering a C grade apparently, hence they all sided with Uraidla.

There are a few other avenues that we are exploring for 2009 but we realise that time is against us. Very disappointing given that we have 25+ blokes predominately from the Lenswood area who aren’t playing footy anywhere else this winter that are keen to have a run in the Cs if a local team is established.

Sounds like the callington senario when they started..soon after they raided every others clubs players. I hope this is not the case!!!

90% of the guys are either retired or have never played the game beyond Senior colts. One or two who played Cs at another club last season who live in Lenswood would return, but apart from that all guys not affliated with any other club.

It will never be anything more than C grade for us, so the fear of us going and pinching players is a very minor one i'd say. I know of local players who will remain at their existing neighbouring clubs because they have A and B grade sides, which is fair enough really.

yeah mate it is, Ben Eckermann was the guy who got knocked out cold against west coast and suffered serious damage to his head.. tyson steinglein got 3 for the bump. and i would say the free fall from last years reserves grand final team to playing HFL would be huuuuuuuuuuge. i would say the team ben played in a premiership with last year would beat the best HFL side by 20 goals on a break!

Tend to agree somewhat. Perhaps he hasn't sen the standard Mt Lofty are setting now. From the limited reserves games I've seen, it's been a bit sloppy, however the boys are 10x fitter than your average Hills footballer and the game much quicker - which accounts for some of the skill errors. Would expect a solid win anyway.

A quick reality check, reserves footy is at best equal to A1 footy, and the top 2 or 3 HFL sides would compete well in divvy 1. There is a massive difference between SANFL league footy and ressies footy, as I am sure Silky can atest to first hand.

So how many points does each team get? Toot you said SANFL players will attract 3 points but then said 21 points for the team. does this then mean they attract 4 points?

Then after the first year, each year they stay at the club, they reduce by 1 point until they are down to 1 point.

clearly the way to improve your squad is to recruit high quality players from affiliated leagues. they only cost you 1 point.

seems strange that you can recruit (say) an a-grade VFL footballer for 1 point, but a SANFL reserves player costs 4.
