Freeling - 3,645
Kapunda - 3,504
Nuriootpa - 7,627
Tanunda - 5,401
The 'new' formula only allows between 3 - 6 imports with only the smallest urban areas ever able to achieve 6. Freeling has the youngest median age, followed by Gawler & Nuri. The rest are all over 40 with Kapunda the oldest at 41.5.
The old formula when applied without Director's discretion was the best because it encouraged the larger urban areas to develope players within their own community. As I see it the underlying push behind this new formula was to bring a premiership to a Gawler Club. GCFC last one back in 2000 & looks like Tanunda are going to upset that plan this season.

Steve O'Connor.
They could talk to O'Connor but he will not leave Kilburn until they are doing well in Div 1. I beleive that is why he went back. So count him out.
Bob Ellis, please what would you talk to him for.
Brenden Daniels was before him and I think he is out at Sailbury or may of moved on.
Lubcke. He would be made to move on.

As i said they spoke to a ex Barossa Coach, i didnt say he would take up the offer, but the money they offered was very good
I also know he has been approached by a Gawler club as well, and you dont have to be to smart to work that one out

no club in the BLG could match kilburns $$$$ except for maybe the blockies his asking price would be at least $20k

Mate, if we got a dollar for everytime someone said we are spending so much money on player payments this season we would be able to afford what everyone seems to think that we are paying. LOL
We are loving the fact that everyone seems to think we are spending so much money, trust me with Gino and Sven running things, there is no way those two would allow player payments to get out of control. Sven is German so he is naturally tight as, Gino is Italian, but has almost lived in tanunda long enough to have a cubic head. One day it would make for interesting reading to see what clubs have really spent over the last 4 or 5 years. You say yourself that no club could match Kilburn for the $$$ with the coach, someone sure was able to to get two flags! I'd say that we would be in the top 5 or 6, but nowhere near the top two or three. Maybe John Doe or James you would like to do a club ladder on his thoughts of player payments? would certainly create a bit of interest...would you be brave enough to suggest an actual spend figure too? Everyone has one in their own minds.

skipper wrote:Good discussion about payments but I thought the salary cap was gone, so clubs can do what they like. The word that I have got is that Barossa & Freeling are still the highest paying clubs by a long way. Willaston, GC, South & Tanunda are about on a par. I have heard the top 3 or 4 at blockville get a good payment but the money really drops off from there and they are about half of what Barossa & Freeling have been paying out over the past 2 to 3 years (Freeling $104k & Barossa about $84k). Kapunda, Nuri & Ango are probably the lowest payers, and that is not all due to finances, 2 of those clubs are very financial and the other is on the rise. Have a good weekend all, I'm off with the wife & child and will not see any BLG this weekend look forward to reading the results in Sunday Mail.
