Gotta say I was a little dissapointed with some of the negative Bay tactics on the weekend. One of the Creek midfielders was flipped over and slammed into the turf after the ump had blown his whistle for a ball up which was unecessary and resulted in the bloke getting concussion (not even so much as a free kick from the umpire either, don't get me started there!). Also I think Sherwood was given one to the ribs in a pack.
Some people would say that's just footy, but I don't like that kinda stuff, it's unecessary and degrades the game.![]()

YOU'RE JOKING!!! a cheap shot in the ribs in a pack in a agame of football??! surely not!
but then you go on and say that "thats footy". yeh, i agree, it is unecessary, but EVERY team does it EVERY week, and i wouldn't be surprised if a majority of blokes on this forum have done it themselves, myself included!
so no point getting on a public forum and having a whinge about it, as you said, "thats just footy". it is as "footy" as a player trying to kick a goal.

I'm not having a whinge, I'm just putting it out there for discussion. It's the eternal footy debate really, what constitutes acceptable niggle, and what is simply out and out thuggery? (just my general observations - not directed at the Bays or any other team in particular!).
I'm just suggesting that I prefer it when a game is decided by skill, flair, and a fierce competition for the footy. Not by who can give the best rib-ticklers under the pack.
Probably a good discussion topic/poll for the general country footy forum actually.

It's not a case of 'toughen up princess' it's just not necessary, and is not in the spirit of the game. Beat 'em fairly and on the scoreboard.

Guitink dislocated and broke his wrist - not pretty. Had surgery last night and I wish him a speedy recovery.

Yep, as far as I'm concerned that stuff isn't tough, it's cowards work. Give a bloke one while he's not looking/pinned/under a pack/the ball is dead etc just ain't something to be proud of in my book.
And if I'm a princess Yetti, then Australia says No, haven't you see those adverts?![]()
Yea, it wasn't rife or anything Cuzzy, the Bays weren't wondering around belting everyone or anything like that, there was just a couple of instances that were a bit unecessary that's all. Probably born out of frustration at getting beaten fairly convincingly, can quite often happen. I agree too, I reckon the umpires have a lot to do with it, they didn't really have control of the game Sat and were very reactionary. Again this causes frustration which can escalate.
