Will we be seeing any changes come from training tonight?

there may be somethign good to come out of tnite, A new player (not completely new has played before) may be returning and hopefully cleared in time to play this weekend. A great inclusion and welcome back. I will reveal more tomorow, dont want to name him just incase he doesnt train.

So this will make how many clearances applications for Cox this year
Just a stab in the dark..... back as Coach

As you can see The yetti did post that Cox was putting in a clearance as early as Tuesday.
I think he put in three to move from Encounter Bay late last year and early this year and now one back.
Super loyalty for a player!!!
There is still 38 more days until the end of June so maybe another couple more clearances yet to come at the rate he is going

Mr Magoo wonders what goes through some footballers heads some times.

1. I don't think I want to play for Encounter Bay in 2009. I want to play at Para Hills and keep it all in the family.
2. I can get more money at Kersbrook and I don't like the family much anyway, I'll go up to the hills.
3. Family thinks Para Hills is best. Yep family is much more important than $$$$ I will play at Para Hills.
4. I miss my mates at Encounter Bay. They are not travelling too well, and we made the Finals last year. They Need me!!!! I can get them into the finals......No better still. The knives are out for Mitchell. Shit I could be coach. I can be the Messiah. I can save the club. Stuff the family, stuff the money. I will do it all for nothing. Just driving down Victor Harbor Rd gives me great pleasure and boy, when I come over the hills and see the cool waters of Encounter Bay, Granite Island and the BLUFF. I hope they don't call my BLUFF.
Time Passes. The birds sing, the grass turns green
It is May 31st.
1. I love the drive but 2 speeding fines and luckily I missed the breathalyser ...Boy I would have blown .016 at least
What a disaster I have coached for 2 weeks
2. Mt Compass without Marcus and big Dylan beat us by 16 points last week and yesterday Victor won by 68 points.
3. They didn't even add me to the Association Side and I played League Footy at Glenelg.
4. Oh NO...We have got Goolwa after the break, and then Langhornes and them upstarts at McLaren
5. I will have 0 wins and five losses....has Easter passed...Thank God I won't be crucified
6. Ring Ring ....Ring Ring. Dad I miss the family too much. It was so nice at Para Hills, I hear they're not travelling too well since I went back to the country. Da ya reckon if I played we could make the finals. Yes Son. I'll fix a clearance. Welcome back to Para Hills Son

Travel reasons... who do think your kidding Cuzzy? Where was he travelling, the streets of Para Hills, countryside of Kersbrook.
TAB need to start a new account: Who'll stay longer at E-Bay Mitchell $1.90 or Cox $1.90

Good to hear things are moving along, a weeks a long time in footy. Goodluck against the dogs. We're revved for the showdown with Yank.
Just wondering what was Grant Brown doing in the B-grade? far to gooder player to be there, kicked six against us both times last year.
Also see Scott Nottle by the coach's box, whats his role with the team this year?[/quote]

Why is Grant Brown not playing A-grade surely he could make the side?

bronwy is playing a grade this week, played b grade last week to get some confidence back, he could not train all the week leading into myponga game either due to work. I reckon with bronwy at full foward in the myponga game bays would have won, it went inside the 50 enough for him to kick a bag, and his pace would have beaten the pongy full back.

Cuzzy.
You know when you drive a car....
You look out the Front Windscreen which is really quite large.
Attached to the windscreen is a rear-view mirror which in comparison is very, very small.

This is because it is most important to go forward and that is what we do. The small mirror is to look in the past.

What Club am I from. Haven't played since 1987. Watch Willunga, Compass and Victor
I enjoy watching the GSFL as it is good country Footy. Skillful and pretty much one on one footy with few thugs. Much better spectacle than the SFL and the current style of playing AFL....
My only Daughter plays netball.
My Past. Played League Footy in the late 70's and Early Eighties as well as league reserves and u/19
Played a bit in the SFL and GSFL
A total of 3 clubs and 263 senior games beginning at 16
3 Senior Premierships and lost 4 and 3 B&F and runner up Mail medal

By the way. 1 good thing
The Encounter Bay Handout is by far the best in the GSFL...so congrats on that.
balanced by one criticism.
The sooner your club learns to recruit players who will stay for 4 or 5 years and stay at the club for a beer (rather than lose 8 every year and recruit 9) the better off you will be

state of the clubs

Postby Captain One-eyed » Fri May 22, 2009 2:27 pm

I wonder after 6 rounds how you guys think your club as a whole is situated. How i see it from the outside, Willunga still very strong in senior

sides, professional club only concern they don"t seem to be as stong in junior grades. Victor recruited some stars although i wonder long term if this will be to the detrement of the club (money not developing kids ect.) Langhorne Creek again strong, lots of money, quietly going about their business, Goolwa fairlly motoring seem to have good suport and competive in all grades. Stath, playing a lot of local juniors, a well managed strong club. Compass, fair to good in all grades must be pleased. Mclarens, senior teams improving as the season develops, playing a lot of kids, under age teams not as strong as usual. Yank, never been more financial with good supporter numbers perhaps were hoping for a bit more success on the field. Encounter Bay a strong club going through a tough patch but will turn it around. Mudlarks good numbers in all grades, young senior squad. Under age teams going great. The leauge seems to be in a very healthy state  :D

great post and gives all clubs somethign to think about, to me i see this year as a strong year for the compeition with four or five sides able to produce a win agaisnt a top 1 or 2 side on any given saturday. I think if anything this year shows a lot of promise for years to come and shows how strong the gsfl will be as a hole with a lot of clubs relying heavily on juniors to step up. I think in years to come there is going to be some very handy 0 or 1 point players (whatever a local player is worth) If i look at my club the bays for example we have played 5 or 6 senior colt players in our A grade already this year with 3 more to play this sat, i think this experience at a young age is of great value. Think Bassani was onto something in his first year where he exposed some decent young talent and gave them a chance.

I guess my question is....has Encounter Bay decided this year to take a hit slightly in results, knowing full well that Willunga will win and planning for the future...Save on money this year, blood some more young kids and then when Willunga get another year older and closer to the pack, they then can afford to top up on those juniors with some very VERY good players??? Why waste money this year when you will most likely still lose to Willunga???

P32 come on!!! 6 weeks in mate its anything but a done deal, infact its as wide open as its been for many seasons with noone being able to pick the 2 Grand Finalists like in the past. At this stage i dont think theres 2 clear cut favourites yet!

Dont make me point out other teams strengths! What i can tell you is that weve got a great crop of guys coming through that are going to hold the club in good stead for a many years to come yet. Alexopolous, Haskett, Toone, Williamson, Mcdonald, Wright, Woolford, Roberts, Groom, Guitink, Garrett, Cooper in the A grade this week all 24 or under, 4-5 of these still teenagers and will play 150-200 A grade games if they stick around! With a good group of 24-28 year olds aswell as the guys in Baxter, Hams, Steele, Carnevale and co i would hope we stay around the top for many years to come!

A real positive for the club considering i keep hearing that we are going to get closer to the pack. I prefer to think the pack is catching up which is great for the GSFL. Our dominance hasnt always been in the season, i think out of the 5 weve finished minor premiers 2 or 3 times. How soon people forget the early 2000s when we played in 3 losing GFs and a Prelim final!

Tips for this week:
McLaren V Victor Harbor
Langhorne Ck V Goolwa
Yankalilla V Myponga/Sellicks
Encounter Bay V Mt Compass
Willunga V Strathalbyn

Mccracken Cup Round 3 this weekend with LC, Goolwa, VH and Willunga all undefeated. % will probably decide who plays in the McCracken Cup this year in what is a great initiative of the GSFL!
