Don't be shy Bay boys, spill the beans....

Wont be Modra - not at the Bay anyway!!! Spotted at the Creek last Thursday night.

na mate not mods! last night at the bay as usual nothing was said about the crap that has been spinning on here as i predicted and the man that talks all the s^%t was no where to be seen. Tha bays had 26 blokes on the track last night with two new b grade players, 1 new A grade player (robbo) not sure of details yet but played at centrals, then i think a club in south east, also my other recruit that i mentioned couldnt get there last night but out thursday, once again i must stress the only blokes that are worrying about the other crap is the blokes that you never accutally see out on the track. All going to plan i think you will see a positive return to form from the bays this sat

Good to hear things are moving along, a weeks a long time in footy. Goodluck against the dogs. We're revved for the showdown with Yank.
Just wondering what was Grant Brown doing in the B-grade? far to gooder player to be there, kicked six against us both times last year.
Also see Scott Nottle by the coach's box, whats his role with the team this year?

I reckon theres a few names missing off that list. Zac Ewer comfortably fits into the top 20 players. There is an age limit, Under 25 with 5 overage players.

Theres a selection panel according to the times that consists of Barry Pilmore, Simon Dennis, Brenton Smith, Greg Whittlesea and Peter Maxfield.

Hopefully next season something gets done about the concept, whether a lovelock shield style weekend returns or they at least flip it around and have it open age with a compulsory 5-6 under 23 players.

Who are the over-age players from that list BJ?
Are there any penalties imposed for players who choose not to play association in GSFL?

Yeah I dunno how you leave two players like Zac Ewer and Ben Moore off of that list. Basically Dutchy, the league imposes a one match penalty (not that it has ever followed through) if you don't have a good excuse not to play. I know in the RMFL last year you needed a Doctor's Certificate if you weren't playing due to injury.

Ewer and Yeomans (who is under 25) are unavaiable on that weekend. I think that might be the case for most of the other Goolwa boys. A couple are injured and one is holidaying that weekend. I think the unavalibility of players for association matches is slowly filtrating down through the grades. 0 Mclarens players available for the under 15's. You cant tell me that after an U14 premiership there are no McLarens kids about the place for an association squad training.

They are, but many of the 1st year senior colts (who dominated juniors last year) are eligable for the U15 squad.

Another interesting round this week
Goolwa/Pt Elliot Youngsters to just get over the line against Langhornes Creek
Myponga /Sellicks in a close one against Yankalilla
Mt Compass will win against Encounter Bay
Willunga too good for the pacy Strathalbyn Team
Mclaren might just surprise against Victor

Creek by 5 goals, to physical for Goolwa's small body's
Myponga by 3 goals, in the scrap fight they will push harder in the final term to get the win
Compass by 10 goals, they are finding some form and bays will loose interest by half time
Willunga by 7 goals, they are to big and strong for strath, strath will use the pace to run away from the contested ball
Mclaren by 4 goals, should get over a injury prone Victor last count I heard was they are missing 7 from the starting 18!!!

Names were put forward to association coaches and letters consequently given to the kids. If these boys haven't been able to make it out to association training it's for personal reasons.

The kids were highly encouraged to go out and train with the association squad and know what an 'honour' it would be to be a representative for the association.

I do know that with 'normal' club footy as well as the South squads (Both training and mid week games) that some of these boys are just physically exhausted and drained. We have to remember that they have had football whether it be playing or training on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Maybe the thought of throwing association into the mix as well is overwhelming for them.

I know at the age of 15 my son did club, south and association and ended up having to have 3 to 4 weeks off after that because of an injury that they put down to 'just too much football'

Well that's my 2c worth anyway O:)

**Edit:
I forgot to mention the fact that they are also doing interschool football carnivals at the moment also.

McLaren Footy Club hosted the umpires training and tea last night. A very good night had by all.
83 umpires trained and after tea and dessert the umpires broke into groups and had discussions and then question time.
A very good number of young umpires....We sold more Coca Cola last night than for the whole year!!!!
If any one would like any financial advice, one of the umpires sponsors can help, so talk to an umpire and get his name.
