Andy Collins also makes a good point about AFL spending money on Rugby League players and not looking after grass-roots football but I reckon the majority on this site would agree with him on that point.

WHUFC, here's a question for you.
Come finals time and Centrals have a full list to choose from, do you honestly believe Sutherland is in their top 21/22??

21

Yes, MacKenzie will obviously be the number 1 ruck,

Central always play 2 ruckmenm that leaves Jonathon Griffin from the crows who has qualified BUT the Crows have a history of not making all their players available especially if they have had any injuries or could be seen as trade bait. Im pretty confident Griffin won't be made available come finals.

That leaves Sutherland, Hannath and Matson, Sutherland is miles ahead of the other two and would be an absolute certainty to play every league game for Central provided Griffen isn't available, Griffin will see the year out in the crows no doubt.

Well that's good then. By the time your finals start, our finals would have finished, so he will be available to play for you.
So you've seen everything have you?

So you would take Sutherland over Griffin? I'm saying full list available, is he in your best 21?

He'll tell you he's their best player, so then he can justify the pro centrals theory on why he should be there the rest of the year etc

I don't think that's the case either BC.
He's just a young lad who is being made all the promises in the world by an SANFL club which could quite easily not fulfill them.
I'm not saying Centrals won't, I'm just saying it might not turn out all pretty like is being suggested by Doggies fans on here.

Yes he is then,

Griffin is not on Centrals list he is a Crows player, they pay his wages and dictate where he plays. So yes Sutherland is in CENTRALS best 21 players.

No one is pretending it will turn out pretty BUT FACTS are........

-Sutherland holds AFL aspriation (fact)
- Playing at Central is a greater oppurtunity than playing at Berri(fact)
- Playing at Central is a step closer to realising AFL Dream (fact)
- Their is a great chance of getting drafted in THIS years draft for any teenager who is playing league SANFL due to the GC factor (fact)
- Last of all some people in life only have one crack at making the big time(fact)

Unfortunatly the riverland competition is a LOWER standard league than the SANFL a bloke has a chance to make it in the 'BIGTIME' and he wants to take his oppurtunity (fact)

What would others on here do in his situation?

BumCrack, where have i said Sutherland is Centrals best player or even in there best ten players, if your going to state what i will and why i will say things please quote me for accuracy and use facts.

Well when he plays finals for you, after our finals have finished, he'll have a good opportunity to showcase his talents to the AFL scouts. End of story I reckon. That's how it is, so let's all move on.

Totally agree,

Goodluck to Berri come finals as well, have only been to the ground once which was for the West vs Central game and the Berri FC put on a brilliant day for everyone involved, i haven't missed many CDFC game since 1992 and that was one of my favourite days attending games.

Would be great to see Jase win two premiership medals in the one year.

You play on words to avoid saying the inevitable, he IS NOT in the best 21 for the Doggies.
He is a CONTINGENCY plan in case Griffin is not available, which you say is likely, and that's all good and fair.

Fact: Sutherland is no teenager.
Fact: He doesn't even follow AFL. Doesn't even watch it.
Fact: This is what he said in January this year:

“I want to be part of a young side that’s nearly there and help them get there, not go to a club where no one knows anything about each other and they’re all flown in.
“All I want is a premiership cup with Berri, that’s all I want.”

He has every right to pursue his dream, hell, everyone does.
A man's word is his honour though whufc, where is the honour for Berri, who put a great deal of time and effort in getting him and his missus there.
Much more work than driving a scout up for a few games.

Pumpa is a good bloke, I know he works extensively with the juniors at Berri with Auskick and is a big favourite there.
He is not just a contingency plan, he was a long-term plan.
Surely you can appreciate why the club would be reluctant to let him go??

Wow, this issue keeps on gaining momentum but the fact is that all parties involved (Centrals, Berri & Pumper) are currently working together.

They will get together to agree on what games he will play where and everyone can be winners. Make no mistake, Berri have put a lot of time, effort and money into him and deserve a return but haven't stood in his way so far. Can I also point out that playing for Berri does not end his AFL chances. Scouts have in the past attended RFL games, they will no doubt attend the SA Country Championships in Berri his weekend and will certainly attend the Aus Championships in Canberra later this month. If you are really good enough they'll chase you.

Let's keep in mind BC's point as well. Berri's season will be finshed I week 1 of the SANFL finals, which you'd have to assume Centrals will not play in due to finishing top. If he is really good enough to be valuable in their finals campaign they'll still pick him despite missing a few late minor round games.

If he was playing for West, I would think it is acceptable as it is Wests Zone. Either he plays for Berri, or Centrals. Berri shouldnt be holding their preferences in front of a 21 old bloke who has a chance of playing at a higher level!!
This is a joke!!!
