Berri wasn't proclaimed a town until year after footy started.

He does like to chatter.
When we played Waikerie, he stood on the hill bagging Steve Liebich about his weight!
That's respect for ya. lol

 Classic! Cheers Matty & Dogwatcher. That sounds like him, except for the keg! Played alot of junior footy with him, he was a bloody good little footballer, so was his brother Damien. Didn't think it was possible for him to put weight on, he could never stand still for more than 5 minutes or stop talking! Never stuck for a funny smartarse comment!

Dig, FYI Steve Liebich is a multiple premiership captain and a much respected player at Waikerie and in RFL circles.

Dogwatcher, thanks for the info. I don't follow the RFL and so have not heard of Steve. FYI I wasn't disrespecting him. Sounds like he's a good footballer and has had a good footy career. I'm not speaking for Clonan, as have not seen him or spoken to him for many years and was just trying to find out if he's still having a kick. Having known him tho, and just my opinion, if he was bagging Steve about his weight it was all probably just a bit of sh!t stirring and a bit of fun, especially if they both are starting to put a few extra kilos on and are involved at the same club. Hope he didn't hurt his feelings!

Another thing from the weekend's games, I thought the Roos' Nettlebeck played the best game I've ever seen him play. Took some good strong grabs.

Anyone know how the Renmark B grade player who was taken to hospital on the weekend with a neck injury is going?
Hopefully all is well - neck injuries are scary.

Which club is better off since the split of mid-Murray?

BSR, Robertstown or Sedan-Cambrai?

There's a fair argument to say that Robertstown as a club has died. Eudunda has basically swallowed them up and football being played in robertstown is probably a thing of the past.

Sedan have more sides, so you could argue they are better off, yet they are probably not as good-a-fit in their new league, and will find it challenging in years to come to compete, I'm not sure their finances are where they need to be to become and remain competitive.

BSR has lost 2 sides, but maintains a link to the netball club, and appear to have found themselves in a competition which is a good fit for them. they will find it harder to attract city or barossa players, but if they align tightly with the riverland there is no reason they cant thrive given their strong junior list.

Only time will tell on Sedan/BSR though.

Lets look at the season so far.....

Robby, the merger ( or take-over) with Eudunda has yet to prove a success with the merged club yet to win a game in the NEFL. The B's too have struggled but honestly merger was their only choice. They were knocked back by the APFL (i think they would have struggled here too) and to go it alone in the NEFL would have required a lot of quality players to come back.

Sedan/Cambrai, are struggling against much better opposition. They have bitten off more they can chew in joining the Hills Country league. The top teams would match it with most top country clubs and unless S/C spend some cash for players to keep up they will struggle. Their best bet would be for a revamp of the Hills comp and a Third division being set up.

BSR, doing as well as can be expected with player losses and fit in well in a league similar to the old Mid Murray standard. Their biggest hurdle is getting their players to travel every second week.
