My Tips:
Yankalilla - very close match, in the wet bodies too big for the young Eagles
Creeks - too much firepower, was intereted to read that Strath lost it last week rather than us beating them
Goolwa - close match, last years were decided by 7 points and 1 point. Pongy to appreciate a dead 4 track
VH - would tip Compass if they were home
Willunga - see creek comment

Can they match it with the dynamic, powerhouse Willunga outfit? LC are clearly vulnerable in the wet, which is a disturbing aspect for the team touted as the one to push Willunga in 2009. The Muddies only saviour is if the heavens open, it doesn't appear likely. Creeks by 20+ goals
Strath Need to consolidate after their win against LC sent out a clear message - under-estimate us at your own peril. Looks to be a clean, entertaining game of footy. Strath may take advantage of the lack of fitness among some of the Vale boys, and will be a telling factor in the pointy end of this clash. Strath by less than 4 goals.
Willunga The heavy-weights of the competition go toe-to-toe. This is the acid test for the revolutionised Victor line-up. Won and lost in the midfield. Victor may take a few more weeks to find their feet and work as a cohesive unit, and may be found out against such a well-drilled team of the ilk of Willunga. Two well-balanced sides, compiling of a productive mix of talls, smalls, utilities and running types. Salivating match-ups beckon between the likes of Hams, Steele, Portlock, Alexopolous, Baxter, Haskett, Thomas Vs Ellis brothers, Joraslovsky, Pittman, Hodge, Fox. Willunga's opening test of the season, also. The team switched on from the opening bounce will dictate terms and take the points. Willunga by less than 4 goals, but a VH victory would not surprise.
Goolwa Unfortunately, overshadowed by the much-hyped Will V VH match-up, but I dare say that's how the Goolwa lads would want it, they're flying under the radar but this is the litmus test that will show the competition, and themselves exactly where they are. Discipline seems to be the primary rule at the Magpies, and they seem to be well coached by the much respected Dennis. The somewhat impotent attack of Mt Compass may be exploited, but the influence of the midfield brigade of Compass will be the key to gaining ascendancy. Fitness of both midfields will be tested to the limit, will Ewer and co have the intestinal fortitude to go with the hard-nosed Dogs? A see-saw battle, with the Dogs perhaps having the wood over the Maggies in the middle, but no focal points inside 50 to kick enough goals. Conversely, Goolwa has the powerful forward line to have a winning influence on the scoreboard. Goolwa by less than 2 goals.
Yankalilla A game that will attract very little interest. Look to be the two sides that will fight out the battle for the inglorious wooden spoon. Encounter Bay, after a reasonably successful decade or two, look to be a fractured footy club. In-house issues need to be resolved before any form of on-field success is achieved. The Tigers will be too big, too strong and too fierce at the ball for the hapless Bays. Yank by 10+ goals

Too true.
Love the adjectives, fractured Footy club, impotent forward line, dynamic forward line, acid test.

Nice work! I have to say it's a better piece than anything the local papers have to offer, particularly the Southern Argus. Some very ordinary journalism in that publication.![]()
