Thought i would venture down to Meningie to see what all the fuss was about with the bears. Well what a disappointing display by the lakesiders. I think there was 4 yellow cards and a red. Benbow got sent off for the red card for the worst thing i have seen on the field for a long time, kicking a player in the head while he is on the ground. Really feel sorry for the local boys that play down there, good bunch of lads!! for the record Mypo won by about 4 goal.

Sounds like he was at his heroic best then Pigskin? The bloke is a stain on this league and little more than a general oxygen thief who doesn't deserve to be in the same oval as a lot of the locals from Meningie!
Hopefully he gets rubbed out for the rest of the season and the Bears can put the coin towards their presentation dinner or something as it would be better of spent that way.

Have to agree with you boys. Motlop has run his course in this comp in the same mould as ladhams. Overrated and arrogant. If what happened on the weekend as I heard is true, then its a disgrace. I feel sorry for the locals that thought they were going to get an x afl player they could look up to. what a poor role model. interesting to see what the rat dalwood has to say about it :?

It seems several clubs in the league are struggling with the senior coach. This problem is only going to get worse as the expectations on country coaches continue to increase but the pool of quality applicants who have the time to do the job gets smaller.

Motlop has quit as Meningie coach, will be interesting to see who sticks around at the end of the year?

Not only at the end of the year but who will be there this Sat? At least they may have people playing for the club and not the dollars!

U wonder if he reckons he could still coach AFL?

Any news on Benbows report?

I heard a sneaky little rumor that no Bears will be playing this week. Or next week for that matter. Take from that what you will ;)

Benbows report was put on hold until he got back from working away. As they were not playing for next two weeks they could afford to do this

On another note. A much better display of umpiring on the weekend between Mannum and Tailem. I also noticed a real change in the Mannum player's discipline.

As for Meningie, the sooner this drama is sorted out the better. Its been a failed experiment of epic proportions. There's still enough talent there (depending on who leaves) to have an impact so let's hope the negative press stops and they can come together for the sake of the volunteers etc

 holy moly if that was a much better display of umpiring, i'd hate to see what it has been like! That was the first time I have seen RMFL though coming from gsfl where we have done really good umpires. Having said that both teams discipline was really good to some of the decisions and just stood the mark and got on with it.

Not sure why but a lot of people love seeing a left of field experiment fail, can hardly blame the meningie FC for giving this a crack when an opportunity like this is in front of you, and by all means the season is not over yet and I really hope the lads can pull together and finish off the year with some good wins.

I'm not 'enjoying' the failure. His excuses for his behaviour are lame at best. Any team in Australia would have jumped at the chance to have Motlop as a player/coach and its shame not only for Meningie but for the RMFL. Let's hope they move on quickly as a club.

I wasn't justifying what he said or done but I have heard there are many people out there having a laugh at the club itself, and of course we are going to defend our own club, I just hope the lads all bounce back in the best way possible of winning games of footy

Really if there is anyone out there taking any enjoyment out of it, they are pretty small minded and in the minority you would hope Grasshopper.
When the idea first started you could not help but be impressed by the committee there having a serious crack. Take your hats off to them.
Plenty would be like me, not a Bears supporter however still hoping it might have worked a bit better for them all. (although it worked just a bit too well in the final down there last year)
