Righto legend. have you possibly considered the real issue in all of this? the standard of umpiring in this league? we had a situation down in meningie not long ago where they played with 13 due to sending offs, along with the constant problems motlop has had with the umpires, mannum had its president suspended to go along with several yellow cards to high profile players - a committee member/senior umpire was suspended for abusing a junior umpire!

This comp is a basket case at the moment due to the muppets running this puppet show.

This rant is not about the weekend, its about the comp as a whole.

What would your solution be P.B? Perhaps the players could umpire their own games like happens in the primary school playground!! Better option would for all clubs to understand how important umpires are and for all clubs to show some real leadership in promoting the zero tolerance policy to umpire abuse.

I agree with zero tolerance but only when the level of umpiring reaches a tolerant level. In most cases I think the answer is simple as not blowing their whistle and letting play continue or the occasional f bomb slip im sure they're big boys. Jezza deserved a couple on the weekend from what I saw but to not allow a player to argue a decision at all is getting far too precious.

A good umpire would comfortably explain his decision leaving nothing left for a player to whinge about!
If the player continues to go on about nothing, then send him off!
A lot of leagues are getting to precious. I have seen a player swearing out loud upset with himself over a poor skill execution and get sent off! Abuse and Passion are two different things that are often expressed with the same words!

Flukey are you serious?
Not sure all that was said hit the mark at pressos, but for you to think that trying to make light of the Pres's suspension in April indicates he has no respect for the league and umpiring officials is drawing a seriously long bow mate.
He copped it sweet, Mannum copped it sweet and went without a president at a game for 3 weeks. If we need to be so precious that we then cant have a crack at a joke at that situation afterwards, I am not sure we are at all heading in the right direction.
He works his butt off for not a cracker and doesn't really need nuff nuffs who have no idea how much he does, having a crack at his humour.

Totally agree PB, we haven't seen much of flukey himself, but the overall standard of umpiring this year has been an absolute joke and is something as a whole that has to improve, as one of these days a situation is going to get completely out of control.

Someone needs to pick up the phone and call Simon Johnson from the Hills league. Best umpire in the business!
Are you prepared to pay the price? WILL YOU PAY THE PRICE?

Out of interest whats the going rate for an umpire and where does the money come from?? Clubs or the League.

Perhaps if clubs put a bit more coin towards training umpires and made it more attractive you might get new people doing it.

Not having a go or anything as i have no idea how the current setup works but you know the saying you pay peanuts you get monkeys.

By far the best in the business, is constantly talking to the players. Would be a revelation in the RMFL and a great mentor for all the other umpires.

I travelled out and watched a game in Adelaide plains today, mallala v Virginia and I must say the umpiring display was outstanding compared to the shit we seem to get week in week out here, perhaps the league executives could look at doing some swapping for an odd game here and there, but it wouldn't last long as none of these other leagues would want them back, I made a comment to someone about how good the umpires were and he said they are similar to this every week, they didn't make the game about them, they let the boys play, and even spoke to the players and explained free kicks etc.

Heard at the game yesterday Christopher Hall is only a few weeks away from his return from injury. Would be welcome news to a well drilled Roos side.

So meninge are always whinging about umpires lately and I certainly witnessed why on the weekend.

Of course the umpires are going to send people of for throwing punches and deliberate hits to try and intimidate players, and when your coach and assistant walk 50m past our box to threaten a supporter what do you expect to happen.

Perhaps it's time to pull your head in and realise these problems are self inflicted! We all know the umpires aren't great in this comp but the only incidents to occur on the weekend were all meninges own fault and they deserved all the yellow cards they got!

So Bartlett has gone from Mypo I hear?!

Also glad Motlop and Moore get what they needed. Can't believe they would stoop to such an immature level.

Anyway, Ramblers outs....Altmann, Kay, Oneil, Sam & Alex Pfeiffer, Alfie, Thommo, Gogel + Dazza Hein & Sammy Carter for awhile now.
Oh dear, let's see how good these ressies are I guess! Good luck to the new guys making their A grade debuts, do us proud!
And if it matters, I still reckon we will get up
