i think bridgy will have to do the same but they have no money coming in like lofty do...as for everyone spending lots of money i agree but lofty would be spending by far the most out of all hills clubs

Lobey, Hahndorf would have to be paying ther ex-AFL players. Torrens Valley in country. Uraidla dont pull out Sutherlands North buddies for free, every decent team are paying players.

robby you have hit the nail on the head! They do need to spend money, i would hate being on the bottom of the ladder for 3 years as well. But i do feel for the players who stuck fat with the club and each week would lace up the boots and run out there knowing they were gonna get there heads kicked in! Players like Scott Madsen, Marlon "coat rack" Coates, Lionel Kerr, Lachy Chapman, Dave Lovell, Alex Cullen, Matt Baldock, who are playing mainly playing B grade this season, they are the ones who stood strong when the onslaughts were coming every week.

Silky - don't care who you are, if you're so keen on yourself, give us your name.
To call a team "cheats", based on them finally spending some coin, is pathetic.
Robby is spot on with his comment about other clubs. And from what I've heard, some of those paid players actually love the club, with I think all of last year's recruits staying on, which can be rare when they're getting paid.
You're sour Silky, and don't hide it well at all.
Be very careful about the use of the word "cheat".
BTW - Bruce, Leith, 3 Stapleton brothers, Burch, DK, Pahl...boys that are in A grade and went through the tough times. It's just harder to earn a spot.
Chapman and Baldock have had a chance to prove this year in A's.

Silky, Lofty have fought hard to be able to afford these players. Just look at how HUGE their supporter base, i say good on them. Their president is obviously doing an exceptional job at fund raising and getting people involved in the club. They have so many social nights for fundraising and so many volunteers that dedicate so much time. As for B grade players being dropped A's, it makes them work harder which in turn makes everyone train harder and the club stronger, the spots are there at the moment with the large amount of injuries in the A's. Maybe your just bitter because Lofty ran circles around you or your club when you played them.

Gee Silky ... I am led to believe that a club you seem to have a lot of heart for may well have utilised a few bank notes in their time at the top ... gee a few years ago now ... obviously Fort Knox dried up... Randall Pearce, Nigel Miller, David Oatey, Cooper, the Faehrmanns, Hughes and co. .. simply didn't play at Pine Avenue cause they loved Oompah music and schnitzels!! Good luck to clubs who are willing to work hard and build themselves up ... gee Mt Lofty lost 29 games in a row ... everybody reckoned they were crap ... they do their homework, work out what is required to get up among the power brokers again .. and go and do it ... and still get bagged. Can't win on either side of the coin. The Devils revival has undoubtedly been good for other clubs as well ... bet they have noticed bigger gate takings and canteen business when Mt Lofty visits. It's all good for football ... though apparently, not for some!!!!!

P.S. ... Interesting to note that another struggling club actually had a discussion with Mt Lofty's president regarding how to turn around their fortunes ... while playing depth might be one matter, an improvement in facilities, sponsorship and general club environment can also make a club attractive to play for ... not just some alleged massive amount of cash which will have the salary cap men scouring all over the books ... gee, maybe a few other clubs will have a worry as well? ... forget cycling ... seems that we are indeed involved in the biggest 'cheating' sport of them all ... Hils football ... what ya reckon Silky?

Got the point yet, Silky?
Great comeback, well founded.
If you did have time at Pine Ave, no wonder you're bitter about results now.

Silky, Hahndorf man are we????? I think your club will have to spend some coin if they are to get out of the hole they are in, havent made the finals for some time, are they going to rely on talented juniors coming through?? All their best juniors ahve gone else where. Are you satisfyed to sit around and watch your team lose just because you dont believe in paying players?

now im a current player at hahndorf and we may be in a bit of a draught but the A grade side is very young laside from the occasional senior experienced player. but some money will have to be spent very soon to attract a star from townw with mates like what happened with trigger at lofty. stephens, stansborough, and ormand allen arent enough to consistently win games. i believe recruiting young daniel roberts from woodville west torrens ressies is a step in thh right direction though.

Good point, robby.
Bobby - I think any club that's not firing thinks like that, and that IS the way things are. You guys had a decent time as a powerhouse and footy normally does full circle. At least you aren't hiding behind calling other teams cheats, you're being realistic.
At no point did I want to be bagging clubs like Silky, and I won't.
Lofty has not only got the players into the club, but the facilities and events keep people there.

Silky, you should know by now that a teenage kid like yourself says stupid things, your just making yourself look like an idiot. You can have your views on Lofty being 'cheats', because I dont really think that anyone gives a shit what you think mate. On to saturdays big game, I reckon the cabbage cutters are definetly going in as favourites. Lets just say that if Mt Lofty play like they did last week, they will get smashed. With no Fleet or Wait, the devils could well struggle up forward if Gordon is well held. It will be up to the other forwards such as Nielsen, White and Mike Stapleton to help the big fella out.

Don't worry, we won't be hearing from Silky again...
Bazz - I semi-agree, last week's form will not get them over the line. Won't get em near the line. But I also still think that their onballers could have a say in the goals, a big say.
But it will be hard without Fleet and Wait. I doubt neither would be risked this late with a guaranteed top 2 finish.
This close to finals, do you think either coach would bring much out of the hat? You wouldn't want to give too much away eg match ups that seem crazy but could work...a win would be nice, but they'd be looking a bit further ahead.
