Dw,
What would this do now for Mid Murray?
Surely they cant play a comp with 3 teams can they?

would they look at merging both riverland indy and mid murray together or travel too far?

It's not open and shut that Robby and Ramco will be allowed to leave. It's up to the SANFL.
But you're right, if they're allowed to go, it could be problematical for the three left.

Think the boys on the APFL thread worked out that Virginia-Robertstown is pretty much the exact same distance as Virginia-Lochiel, which they already do.

They would be more competitive than the current bye .... but only just.

(As background) - I've seen BL&G reserves sides that would beat them confortably.

Have heard a rumour that Sedan/Cambrai have approached the BLG to play in their league... if this is true, along with R/T to APFL and Ramco to Indy's, Morgan and BSR may well be left high an dry...

One would think they'd look at joining the Riverland Independents too...

You coulndnt possibly think that they could compete?? There is a fair difference from what I understand. Independants would have to be a better choice one would think?

Its about 88kms as crow flies Virginia to Robertstown - as DW said - same as to Locheil - however following the roads (as we have to do) its about another 20kms. Quite a bit further than Locheil - Virginia.

I take it from what I read there is some concern about the standard of Robertstown vs general APFL standard.

They would probably need to recruit 75% of a side to be competitve in APFL or NEFL. They have zero depth (their reserves side was beaten yesterday in a final by 181 points - they could only field 15 players ... so the game became 15 a side.) Add to this the fact A grade currently play 16 a side on the field, and I cant see how they can possibly field all sides each week - which I would have thought would be a necessity. Apparently they have money, bu thats because they never spend any, and this would be chewed up within 12 months if they went to a league were money was needed.

I reckon within 5 years they will have folded or merged with Eudunda (regardless of the country hick infighting they have up that way).

APFL play an A grade team with 3 on the bench, i.e. 21 players - B grade standard 20 means at least 41 players each week. If they are only finding 18 + 15 now they need to find at least another 8 players each week not counting retirements etc. Where are these players going to come from?

Seems there are quite a few issues still to work through ....

Robertstown winning the flag will seemingly give them some confidence if they head off to APFL.

Not sure if this will ever happen, heard that the SANFL have knocked the move on the head.
