Nothing in Punky's rules that stated you had to be under, just the closest.
Conced defeat Jimmy even if you do want a bun! :D

For once I agree with a part of what you are saying Punky:

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind all participants of BFC that this is the odd week of this comp' and Punky's jurisdiction is by invitation only. Any attempts by he or others to draw up rules outside of the ones clearly stated by the management shall be viewed as a blatant attempt to mock the integrity of BFCEW, me and the regular law abiding participants of this competition. I know this may sound tough, but this is exactly why I am popularly known by the cognomen "Iron Fist", and it is being enforced for the greater good of all concerned.
Having said that, I see no problem with conjecture about the rules or possible winners of the round, as this adds to the colour of BFC and as such was a unanimously approved practice at last years BFCEW annual meeting. In Wedgie's original post he states that the winner could be Sturt Peter, hence classifying his statement as conjecture, and has the whole-hearted support of the BFCEW committee in saying this.

As for the status of Sturt Peter's Bun: He will need to wait out the round to see if there is or isn't a more highly attended game than the one at the Parade, but as things stand now, Sturt Peter was indeed closest to the figure and is a hot favourite to take out that Bun.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

ANNOUNCEMENT:

The management of BFCOW will, this weekend, be partaking in the ancient Japanese custom of driving a long way and then slowly getting smashed beneath the blossoms of some cherry trees. They call it hanami which translates directly into "blossom viewing", I call it getting smashed beneath cherry trees. This occassion unfortunately clashes with the awarding of the Buns for round one, which will be postponed until Monday.
In light of this development, the management would like to assure all punters that no Buns awarded by any unauthorised personnel before Monday will be officially recognised by the organisers of BFCOW. This is to ensure our quality standards are maintained and so nobody becomes confused by Buns possibly awarded incorrectly.
While we apologise for any inconvenience caused by this, the management would like to highlight the rare opportunity afforded by this event to create suspense about who the winner might be. Remember, speculation about the result can be fun, but only trained professionals, such as the management of BFCOW, have the qualifications to acurately guess who the Bun Winners are.
Thank you, and may the best punter win!!

ROUND ONE RESULTS

In a boil over to begin the season, Sturt Peter has snatched the Bun for the highest attended game of the round with his stab of 7,254, which was only 86 over the actual figure of 7,168 Northernites at the Hamra Homes Oval clash between Central and North.
But hold the applause, please! Not to be satisfied with one Bun for the round, Sturt Peter dug deep, to finally outmuscle his closest rivals, and clinch the Overall Attendance Bun for the first round by about a platoon of SANFL followers from the highly fancied Wedgie. Sturt Peter's prediction of 19,126 was just 123 Easter weekend SANFL followers over the amount guessed at by the Easter weekend Redcoats, while Wedgie's 18,827 was 176 shy of that figure.
CONGRATULATIONS STURT PETER!!! On taking out the first Double Bun in the first week of its conception. And well done to all involved in what was a tightly contested struggle until the finish.

Over to you Punky!

Buns for Round 1

Postby sturtpeter » Tue Apr 10, 2007 12:43 am

I am deeply overwhelmed.

Words fail me but I will continue the Double Blue dominance of this highly esteemed award until at least Round 3 8)

Given a forecast temperature of 28 C next Sunday expect Unley to host a record crowd for the eagerly awaited clash with the Bays.

As we all know we are all only as good as our last prediction.

I predict over 5,000 to swamp our glorious Oval on Sunday :D :D :D
