As Borat mentioned at this stage we wont be running a tipping competition this year due to overseas travel and lack of time. Hopefully there are a few others around that people can join.

Fair dinkum where's yer bloody priorities? I thought only the pollies pi55ed off overseas when the public needed services to be provided! Is nothing sacred?

I've always been keen on an odds-based tipping contest. Publish the odds from Thornton (or whatever) prior to the games, and a successful tip earns points equal to the dividend for a $1 dollar win bet on the winning team. Would be a bit more work to run, but could be fun.

One of the Melbourne Unis (RMIT?) used to run an information-theoretic tipping contest, which involved a score based on a predicted result and a given confidence in that tip, but I think only myself and Ecky would be interested.

provided the coefficient of determination of the of the score of those tips and the actual result is greater than 0.900 based on a binomial distribution about the mean of those results, I'd be interested too.....

Brilliant! Is this going to be run wholly on the punting board? I might have a go, although I was thinking more of a "one bet on each SANFL game" format.

An idea for prizes - everyone pays a fee (perhaps $2 per week or similar). 50% of this money goes to prizes, the balance goes on the bar for all to enjoy.

Turn up at the end of season function with your $46 in hand and someone splits it to the winners and the bar tab. Works pretty well here at work - we had about 40+ people last year.
