I would like to think my employer would struggle without me.

I think i am safe in the long term, being in aged care.

Obviously the manufacturing sector has suffered because of the high Aussie dollar.

May figures show growth in the retail sector, indicating an increase in consumer spending.

There is no denying that global warming is happening, or that there has been a cycle of ups and downs.

There are two issues of debate:
1. How much is the current natural cycle due for a peak now, and how much is the human contribution on top of that?
2. How much difference will a Carbon price make towards actually reducing the effect rather than just be a trading scheme for credits, and do we instead need to actively change the technology we use more rapidly than a pricing scheme will achieve.

Personally, having researched it for myself, I accept there is a human component of significance on top of the current natural peak.
I also don't believe our present approach is effective.

Was talking to a manager the other day of one of the companies stores and he says that he hasn't seen it this quiet in sales since 1992, many contractors are doing lots of quoting and getting 2 days a week work if that. The workers in manufacturing plant are down to an 8 day fortnight - they have already done a number of redundancies in this area along with sales and it does not seem to have changed a lot. 16 000 jobs were lost in SA last month, if that is not a recession, I don't know what is?

The CSIRO and Bureau of Meteorology, who I'd say know more about climate and climate change than us lot, say that: "Rising CO2 emissions from the burning of fossil fuels has affected global temperature much more than natural climate variability during the past century".

They go into more detail in their recent State of the Climate 2012 report.

yep and now all business will either raise there prices or go out of business, or if where lucky they will wear the cost and take less of a profit. And in the mean time we will tax the mines because they make money, even though they stopped us from going into a real recession. We also put fear into mining companies from thinking about projects in Aust, meaning we miss out on possible jobs and money for the country. And the ones that are interested and willing to put money into this country have to put up with dole bums that are stoping mines from running 100%, and also stopping hard working aussie being able to work. And where does all this money go from the mines and the carbon tax straight to a new pay rise for Gillard. If anyone votes for her in the next election they should be put on a boat with all our illegal immigrants.
