He was telling the truth.........but only if he wrote it down.(Preferably in his blood) :D

Apart from being fairly effective in keeping the Gillard government on the back foot and mostly down in the polls - not much.
I did say "If" to Quichey. ;)

I don't really like the prospect of him as PM, and hope others will keep him in check.
It is a case of which you think is the lesser of two evils at present.

There is not a lot you can achieve in opposition except to question the Govt and he has shown them to be inept in so many areas
He nearly won the last election even though most people wrote him off from the start
The last Liberal Govt was given the gift of a Senate majority which cost it govt
Labor might be patting itself on the back this weekend but I wonder whether history will repeat itself.
Abbott has said Slipper is now their problem and it may come back to bite them if he is shown to be dishonest
Speaker of the House  Dracula in charge of the blood bank

I wouldn't mind going out for a night with Slipper & Thomson :partyman: :drinkers: :Hangman: :toimonster:

That's a good question, Jimmy, about whether the Slipper appointment will become a short-term win but a longer-term problem for the government.

At this stage, Labor's chances of winning the next election have gone from impossible to a very outside chance.

My take is that they're a big chance if Mr Abbott stays as Lib leader, but I don't think he'll last much longer unless there's a scandal against the Govt.

As I keep saying, 2 years is a long time and anything can happen.

It just did.

Whilst Abbott is an absolute joke, who are they going to replace him with?

Oh, and I wonder where Slipper goes to with his Canberra taxi journeys? ... *cough* Fyshwick *cough*

I love the way you keep banging on about Abbott losing the leadership to try to take the focus off Gillard
Slipper will become a long term problem just like Mal Colston

Your scandal may just have started happening this week

Well, that's what I just said

That's a good question, Jimmy, about whether the Slipper appointment will become a short-term win but a longer-term problem for the government.

I've been saying that Abbott is in strife for a long time. Not to take focus off Gillard, but because it's my opinion. (and now that of an increasing number of political commentators who have just caught up with the action).

I'm also sorry I haven't recognised the failure of Gillard in increasing her majority in the Parliament. Any more of this brilliance from Abbott and her majority will be 5.

Didnt take long!

"AUSTRALIAN Federal Police have widened an investigation into alleged rorting in the parliamentary office of new Speaker Peter Slipper, as scrutiny of his taxpayer-funded entitlements shows he claimed nearly $1100 a day on travel and other expenses during the first half of the year."

It was happening anyway ...

AFP have widened an investigation ...

and ...

Special Minister of State Gary Gray said yesterday he would consider a Sunshine Coast residents' petition for an audit of Mr Slipper's expenses, dating back 10 years.

The petition, signed by 2696 people and backed by Mr Slipper's nemesis and neighbouring Liberal MP, Alex Somlyay, expressed concern with the "extraordinary expenditure of taxpayers' money" by Mr Slipper, in his capacity as a backbench MP. Mr Slipper had served as Deputy Speaker from November last year.

In fact, you have been saying Abbott wont last long since the day he was appointed - and you've been wrong for a very long time

I recently moved back into his (Poodle) electorate and the thought of ousting him is making me consider submitting a HoR vote next election

Was said on the ABC that there was to have been a meeting on last Friday night where Slipper was to have been disendorsed by the Libs because of certain incidences. Whether that is actually true or not who knows, guess if there is now an investigation, the Libs are not going to be greatly concerned about passing over any documents that may be of assistance!
