Election - 20th March 2010

Postby A Mum » Tue Mar 02, 2010 10:58 am

Just out of interests sake and to get a 'view' of what SAFooty.net members will be doing election day-
I thought I would do an anonymous poll - since there are people out there who don't like to 'voice' their political opinions.

But hey - still feel free to post something in here if you like :)

So who will you be voting for?

O:)
You get what you give....

Greens in the Upper House. I think I voted Labor last time but jeez I'm so sick of Mike Rann in his vest and hard hat, and I think they need to put Michael Atkinson back in his coffin.

No idea who I'm going to vote for in my electorate - we don't have a Greens candidate and our only independent is our MP and he's a douche. Probably vote Labor just in the hope of getting rid of him.

I'll have voted earlier by mail as I have a silent enrolment - due to having had a couple of stalkers in the past.
I'll also be in Brisbane on the day.

Last night reminded me so much of how there's no way AFL footy should be at Adelaide Oval.

PLEASE Vote Liberal everyone! [-o<

Now I know you've accused me of having a left-wing slant before, Wedgie and correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I detect a slight slant from you on this issue :D

I think the result will be a hung parliament. Whoever can negotiate the best deal with the minors and independents will govern as a minority.

That is looking a real possibility, even if you just take into account recent results interstate.

Bligh - got in all by herself.
Barnett - did a deal on mining royalties going to regional WA, and got in.
ACT - from memory it was tight with the Greens siding with Labor to enable them to continue in govt?
Tas - predictions of a hung parliament due to a number of factors. They vote on 20 March as well.
NT - Labor clinging on by a thread there, a cliffhanger result in the last election and in the current administration, the govt has nearly fallen when one or two disaffected independents have left Cabinet.

2002 in SA - Peter Lewis gave govt to Mike Rann in return for a "Compact" and the role of speaker.

I not convinced that a 10% swing in the Morialta Poll is enough for the Opposition to believe they have a genuine chance of winning in a photo finish - there are still 17 days to go in the campaign. But I think it's fair to say that momentum is building for the opposition.

Morialta is traditionally a Liberal seat if it goes in a 10% swing then (in order of swing required) Bright, Hartley, Newland, Norwood, Mawson and Light will follow. There is even an outside chance the Libs could win Adelaide (10.2%), Lomax-Smith has not set the world alight as a minister and her celebrity status as a former high profile and popular Lord Mayor of Adelaide has run its course, so it is a possibility. Mt Gambier and Chaffey are also possible Liberal gains. It all hinges on whether the 10% swing is real or a media beat up.

Is that relevant as to whether it could handle AFL footy? It just sounds like it wasn't prepared, security staff and gate people wise, to deal with the crowd.

I thought the running of the operations will be handled by the new consortium, nothing to do with existing arrangements?

My understanding was that there would be an oval administration committee that would run the oval on behalf of the various stakeholders. Currently it's just run by the SACA.

A couple of people at work here went last night and were scathing of the gate. What??? They didn't know there was going to be 45,000 people in black t-shirts all trying to get in? Did SACA run it or was it a private contract?
