Solid.

Didn't soar like many of us hoped. But solid.

Was always unlikely to meet its great expectation.

Same might be said for his presidency years from now...

I didn't see it - I had more important [for me] issues to deal with.

I don't think it will be something that people will quote from in years to come...

Last night I listened to Martin Luther King Jnr's "I have a dream" speech which I downloaded from iTunes. If you want to hear a brilliant speech, that's the one...

Haha, it is starting to wear a little thin.

Talk - Action = 0

Yep, he made a few to many speeches that will change the world. Making such a speech after every state was a bit of overkill.

Bloody channel 9! They put on Obama instead of Humphrey Bear. Now I've got a four year old threatening me with a skewer. "The people on TV are not doing the right thing. They are not putting Humphrey Bear on! You have to go on TV and put Humphrey Bear on right now. I'm very very cross etc etc."

Maybe if Obama put on 40kg, a funny vest and hat he'd look enough like Humphrey Bear to keep her happy.

Maybe if he learnt to keep his mouth shut like Humphrey Bear it would keep me happy too.

Got up at 3.15am watch the whole thought it was a good one. Enjoyed it. Never thought a would see a black President. It was nice to see history in the making.

very noble of the real powers-that-be to lead him like a lamb to the slaughter....
the American economy is in terrible shape (Australians should watch very carefully, as this is how are Labor government will leave us), the 2 un-finished wars in Iraq & Afghanistan, & the short-medium term outlook for the future in America is not very good .
He is in for a tough time, & the cynic in me sugests the real power-brokers know this, hence their "approval" for the first black President- to fail.

Coverage here wasn't too bad on the BBC...Sky News was bloody awful...the presenters were saying errrr and ummm literally every other word.

Thought his speech was good...didn't try to pretend that there won't be some tough times ahead etc...but he's still a politician and seems to be a damned good orator so time will tell.

I wish the media would stop banging on as if he's a reincarnation of JFK or Martin Luther King...let the guy be himself and make his mark on history in his own way ffs.

I think the Yanks desperately need lessons in playing a fanfare theirs were shocking  and that woman towards the end wasn't reciting a poem imo she was just talking  .

Favourite bit was the old guy giving the benediction and the bit he said at the end about 'yellow being mellow' etc.

Although I can't stand him either I did think it was pretty disrespectful that some of the crowd boo'd George W when he appeared on the big screens.

Did anyone else not recognise poor Mohammad Ali until the presenters announced who he was??? :(
