True, but the opposition aren't alot better with the constant spats and speculation over leadership.

So, the Premier and Treasurer both get knifed even though they promised to be there for the term.
The Premier loses his position because a trade union decides that they know better than the voters.
We get the dregs of ministers because the factions decide who gets the jobs; they are not given on merit.

Lots of differences between the two parties.

Then chuck in these little pearlers of today:

I keep hearing the Liberal have no policies.
I would like to know what the Labor Govts policies are because they sure haven't announced any, or are they just waiting on the Liberal ones?

Interest repayments and education debacle are governments fault but it is drawing a long bow to blame them for Lance Armstrongs misgivings. At the time he was paid to ride in the tour down under the doping scandal hadn't broken and he was in fact being paid under numerous sponsorship and attendance deals by corporations and governments the world over. At the time we considered ourselves lucky to have him ride in the tour as he attracted a larger supporter base and global interest in the event if I remember correctly.

Mmmm, sorry, I forgot he was here to ride. It just seemed like he was here to pump up his mate Ranny

Yeah, they both pumped each other up a fair bit. Still not the governments fault Lance is a drug cheat though.

Not having a go at you Roxy, there were so many strong rumours about Armstrong coming from within cycling, that any humble government would have thought twice about it. It was sickening to see the sycophant Rann(d)y almost wanting his children to the point I had little regard for Armstrong, especially when he suddenly got himself involved by endorsing Rann(d)y. We, the taxpayer, paid for him and he had no right to get involved in local politics.

and now for my pièce de résistance - Crikey!!

I agree, Lance should have stayed out of the local political arena. It was cash for comments but without the scrutiny from the ABA. Rann(d)y (LOL) certainly got our monies worth. Still not the Governments fault he is a drug cheat though. Armstrong was being endorsed by Governments and corporations all over the world at that time, through cycling and through his Livestrong charity. The SA Government were duped by a cheat but were by no means the only ones.

So is Mr Downer going to make a run for Parliament/Leadership..or is it just (more) media speculation..

How much would he "slash and burn" if he became Premier, I wonder. Would he do a Jeff Kennett perhaps.

Would he have to (temporarily) give up his generous Federal pension if elected to State Parliament?

Well I doubt he'll agree to be recruited into the leaders role.

Firstly, he won't be able to lecture and patronise us through his weekly column in the Advertiser ... explaining how he would solve the world's problems when in fact he did SFA when he was in government.

Secondly, he'd have to take a pay cut and lose his freedom and spare time.

Thirdly, he'd be an absolute flop as he showed us all quite clearly nearly 20 years ago when he was an embarrassment as Liberal leader.

Any leader worth his salt is going to slash and burn.
And if they had the guts; hand the entire SA health system over to the Feds

Caica also falls on his sword before being sacked from the ministry.

Good to see the factions are alive and well, he is by no means the worst minister and has easily outperformed Gago, Portolesi and Rankine, but unfortunately for him they're all women.

My impression is that Caica was one of the best performed Ministers in recent years.

Bit of a joke really. They deserve to get beaten in the next election.

Olson in SA and Kennett in VIC were able to reduce their state debts by selling assets because there were assets to sell then.
This time there aren't any to sell, so nobody can do a Kennett.
(Incidentally, the VIC government got some of the assets he'd got money for given back free of charge later.)

The present SA ALP government has resorted to a temporary debt reduction solution that will cost more in the end.
They are planning to sell off offices and rent them back to make the state budget look better for the upcoming election.
They, presumably, figure the future is not their concern...

They become more and more like the Libs by the day.
